Great intro for all ages
First read this book about 50 years ago while using a toy microscope with 100-400 power. It was nearly a Bible for me. I finally bought a good compound microscope, recently, and purchased this book, again. It's a geat introduction to the worlds of tiny and a good read for ages.

For 50 years, my favorite microscope handbook
I've had many copies, and given away plenty to new microscopy enthusiasts (along with the appropriate microscopes and equipment) but always make sure to keep one for myself. Everything in this (okay, maybe dated) book can still be replicated today in more modern times, and the technical side of "how to" and why is still unexcelled in a single introductory volume.

THE classic for beginners
Dated, but still classic. I used this book to guide my microscope explorations 50 years ago, and just about all the information in it is equally useful today.

Very Informative!
This book has tons of information on how to use the microscope, from beginners to more advanced users. I use this volume as microscopy is a hobby of mine, and also I use our microscope to teach my young children about the world of the small. In the pages of this book you can learn about plants, molds, yeast, bacteria, animal cells, microscopic pond life, how to prepare slides, preparation of cultures, insect life, and this list could go on, it makes science fun for the family. This book is very easy to understand, yet has very detailed information on a variety of subjects, with many drawings and photographs.

Wonderful
I got my first copy of this book along with my first microscope when I was in elementary school. It started me off a lifelong pursuit of science, both professionally and as an amateur. This is a fantastic book for both the young person interested in biology and the adult with an interest in the natural micro-world.
