Teach it a signal, you can only repeat that function via the app, not assistant or others
I had really high hopes here. Worked great to learn an IR signal for my surround sound receiver. Yep, it can turn it on and off with the app. But when you create a new device (i.e., "DIY") that it does not have pre-loaded (e.g., TVs), this "DIY" device does not register as the other preloaded devices. This means you can't create schemes or whatever, and they won't register on the Google Assistant as an available device. So...close but no cigar. I'm going to contact the seller to see if they'll fix this within the app and will update if i get anything worthwhile.

Useless for Alexa or Google voice control
The attached photo is a screenshot of the app. If your device is not one of these devices specifically (not DIY), you cannot use voice control. No sound bars, no DVD players, nothing but what you see in this screenshot (except DIY, meaning they don't have the codes) can interface with voice control. Just underdeveloped, cheap junk. I was offended to have to give it one star.

So far I'm impressed
I have tried several of the IR blasters with Alexa control available on Amazon. I had to return the first one of these I got because it was broken. But the replacement is fine. Most IR blaster remotes don't support all the brands I have of equipment. This is the only one I've tried that has codes built in for a Sceptre TV. It's important to have the codes built in, because most of the blasters that allow for DIY, don't support DIY for voice control. So far, this one gives me what I need. Still a lot to play around with it, but I am impressed, and the price is sure right. Might pick up a couple more.

It's an okay product.
I bought 3 of these to control 3 of my airconditioners when I am away from home. My older LG A/C was able to work with it right away. They have a database of brands in the app. LG had 7 remotes to choose from, I found one that worked quickly and was up and running. My other two A/C's a GE and a Toshiba had remotes listed in the app but none of them worked. I had to set it up DIY. This was only able to map the power key. None of the other keys would register when I pointed the remotes at the device. This is okay for me since that's all I really wanted to be able to do, however, you can't use any of the smart features with a DIY remote set up. This as a big disappointment. They need to update their remote database for this to work better. Newer devices seem to be the issue. They just don't have them in the database.

Easy to setup!
I ordered this for my home media set up and I have to say, I'm impressed for the price. I was able to set this up through the Smart Life app and pair it to my TV. I originally was trying to pair it with my AV receiver but the options there are lacking with IR controls. I enabled HDMI CEC on my TCL (65S405 Roku edition), programmed this device for the IR codes (look under Roku, not TCL!), plugged my 4K Fire Stick into my AV receiver, and enabled the Smart Life skill in the Alexa app.My Echo Dot now turns on my TV to the the default input which displays my 4K Fire Stick! I just have to tell Alexa what content to play. Totally seamless and easy for my family to use.

Won't control IR-contolled devices.
Followed the instructions closely (many, many times). The controller appears to "learn" and register the IR signal....and then appears to send that signal when prompted, but none of the devices I've been working with (ceiling fans, lights and an air cleaner) respond to it.The instructions could be (much) better....and it would be helpful if their website responded before timing out.

Disappointed
I might as well tossed my cash into the paper shredder. This linked to the vizio tv with little issue. But it wont even diy my cable box. Just tto say you get to the point of linking your tv. Alexa still will not use more then tv on or off. But the apps remote can use all the functions. I have 228 smart devices in this house spread over 6 wifi networks. Very far from being a newbie to this sort of thing. This was a test run pretty much. That failed! Part really burns me is every dish provider you can dream of is listed

DIY not work! It cannot learn from my projector's IR remote.
I tried about 2 hours on this smart IR device. I made my projector remote aim at this device, following the instruction shown on the app. Wifi connection is unstable and DIY does not work. This is definitely not my expectation.
