I'm very happy with this handy filter adapter
I'm very happy with this handy filter adapter. I got it to put on my Panasonic Lumix DMC-7S50 point-and-shoot camera. The magnetic ring fit perfectly, and the magnetic adapter holds on firmly. It's great to be able to use my old 58mm SLR filters on this little camera. In fact it is very handy since it is easy to pull off the adapter without having to unscrew the filter. I primarily use a polarizing filter and the pouch is just big enough to hold the adapter with the filter.

Works great with my Sony RX100
It works great with my Sony RX100 and RX100 II with some caveats. First make sure you get it on their perfectly concentric with the lens. A bigger PITA than you might think. If you don't then any lens/filter whatever you use won't have the optical centers lined up and this can create some bad effects especially if use very wide angle lenses. Also be careful with how much weight the filter or lens weighs. I have a wide angle converter I use since Sony didn't make the wide angle wide enough for my tastes. This converter is pushing the limit of what it will hold and not fall off. It isn't huge but I have learned to put my hand underneath it just in case it comes off. So far that has only be once BUT if my hand hadn't been there a $200 lens would have been trash. If using it for just a filter you are probably ok though I am on my second one already. The first one had a 55mm CPL filter. While on a boat trip in the Caribbean someone bumped it while I was on standing by the railing of the boat. Murphy's Law took over and the Mag adapter decided to commit suicide and jumped onto the edge of the boat. It wasn't content to just fall into the water directly from there. Oh no, it wanted to taunt me as it continued to roll along the outside edge of the railing while I ran like a crazy man trying to stop it before it final went to Davy Jones' locker. With one last little hop just before I could reach it, it took a swan dive into the water and I watched it slowly sink out of sight until some big fish saw it glittering in the sunlight and hit it. I don't know if it swallowed it or not but I was about $100 bucks with the loss of a good CPL filter and the Mag adapter.Since I bought another one I am trying to figure out how to rig a little leash on it. For the most part I think the magnet is pretty decent. I went with the 55mm size as I already had good filters in this size AND the wider size means less chance of vignetting. If I could give it 4.5 stars I would but since I can't I rounded down as it isn't worth a 5 star rating to me.

Works great on my Panasonic DMC-ZS100!
Great idea for a point and shoot accessory. I was able to use my 58mm polarizer from my DSLR with my new Panasonic DMC-ZS100. Clever design with the magnetic attachment. I wouldn't mind having that for my DSLR. It's super easy to attach and remove. We'll have to see how well it stays put in action though. It's a bit too pricey but it's well made, works perfectly and is a unique solution.

Pretty Cool Solution for Panasonic Lumix LX10
This is a review of the MagFilter 58 mm kit mounted on the Panasonic Lumix LX10.This is an excellent solution for mounting filters on a point and shoot. Four years ago, I brought this setup on an international trip along with three ND filters, a circular polarizer, and a compact tripod as I didn't want to bring the big DSLR. Having the ability to mount filters allowed me to do long exposures during the day. (I later learned how to stack multiple images in Adobe Photoshop to produce a simulated long exposure which makes it unnecessary to use ND filters unless if it's very bright out and it's not reasonably possible to do that.)By the way, what else you see in the attached photo is a 58 to 77 mm step-up ring. At the time, I used a set of 77 mm filters for all of my cameras, so this is what I did rather than buying a new set of 58 mm filters. One issue I had was that one of the two metal rings that arrived in the kit was unusable. The 3M adhesive backing was removed to reveal a spot where there was no adhesive, which is shown in the second photo. I thought that the backing had separated, but picking at it revealed no adhesive underneath. The third photo shows how it should look, with adhesive all the way around. This is not necessarily the fault of MoGoPod, the manufacturer of the kit, but perhaps 3M who made the double-sided tape. I would think catching this in MoGoPod QC or 3M QC would be difficult. For the above issue, I contacted MoGoPod who replied that there will be a $5 shipping and handling fee. They stated the kit was not purchased directly from them, and they are required to charge this fee. Oddly, Photo Smart, the Amazon seller I bought the kit from has the same phone number and street address as MoGoPod, the manufacturer. The MoGoPod customer service representative said in an email, "there is a different store located in this department and we share the same phone contact information and address." (So when you call the number, I wonder who picks up. Again, odd.) They gave me Photo Smart's email address, and those folks (probably the same individual) sent two replacement metal rings to me at no cost, although I had already left for my international trip. Thankfully, the kit came with two rings, so I didn't need the replacement rings.Using the kit, I noticed two things. First, the edge of the adhesive attracts dust and it's nearly impossible to remove them even with tweezers. The adhesive is very strong. I doubt it's much of an issue that affects image quality unless if you're really looking for it. It's a point and shoot after all, and this camera is great, but is not known to have great edge to edge clarity anyway.Secondly, when the MagFilter adapter is mounted (even without a filter or the 58 to 77 mm step-up ring), pronounced vignetting is noted at 24mm equivalent focal length in the LX10 RAW file, but not the JPG file. Although the adapter's adhesive backed metal ring slightly protrudes into the rectangular opening of the lens on the LX10, this pronounced vignetting is not visible when the MagFilter is off. This doesn't appear to be an installation problem as the vignetting is even in all four corners.I believe the LX10 RAW file is known to show mild vignetting at 24 mm, however it is normally very mild, and this heavy vignetting only occurs with the MagFilter in place. I'm guessing the camera applies just enough distortion correction to the JPG file, effectively removing the vignetting caused by the MagFilter. So, this vignetting issue is somewhat of a non-issue if 1) you shoot in JPG only, 2) you can crop it out in post-processing, or 3) you're careful about shot placement at 24 mm.Both the dust and vignetting issues are definitely not the fault of MoGoPod, but of the design, application, and use of such a product. The vignetting can definitely be reduced in designing and manufacturing future models though. It appears that the largest model of the MagFilter is this 58 mm kit, which has an inner diameter of 34 mm. If they could just open that up a few mm, I bet the added vignetting would disappear.

Great way to enhance your point and shoot camera
I discovered this while searching reviews for the Canon G15 on youtube. I carry a DSLR on most of my trips but also keep my point and shoot(PNS) handy. Using the magfilter allows you to place filters on most pns cameras. After a recent outing I am more than happy to have had this with me. Initially I was dismayed with the performance of the polarizing filter I purchased. Shooting conditions improved during my trip and I am more than happy. The magfilter comes with an attachable soft carry case, the adapter, and two metal rings which are essential to use the adapter, one is a back up or to use on a second camera. In some conditions it is necessary to ensure the adapter does not come off your camera. When placing into and removing from a camera bag make sure the adapter stays put. I could see it getting blown off in very windy conditions too. I'm talking holding it out a car window type wind velocity.

5 Stars!
Perfect for attaching 'normal' filters to my Panasonic Lumix TZ90 compact camera. The magnet is super strong and has never been knocked off the front of the camera.
