Would I buy it again? Recommend it to a friend? ABSOLUTELY!
We ordered this item with some trepidation...so many water softener salespeople had stated categorically that these electronic water conditioners simply did not work and were a rip-off...just before they tried to sell us their fifty-star home system for $10,000! But we decided to give it a try, counting on Amazon's customer-friendly satisfaction guarantees. To our amazement...IT WORKS!! I can't say it will work for any other well system/water hardness/regional water content variations...but at least for our moderately "hard" water, it works quite well. Here's what the Clearwave did for us immediately, clearly noticeable within 24 hours:-- First, my wife started raving about how much softer her skin was with the Clearwave!!! And after extensive personal testing (!!!!), I can verify that her skin was indeed softer and less dehydrated after showering. This benefit ALONE was more than worth the cost of this device!-- Second, we both noticed, independently, that our soap and shampoo (diff. shampoos for each) lathered up MUCH better after we got the Clearwave connected. It was a STARK improvement, extremely noticeable. Again, for the price we paid, this was a VAST improvement. Will we save money by using less soap/shampoo? Probably, but it would be hard to quantify.-- Third, we did notice that water beading on the shower tiles and glass door was reduced; by that, I mean, the water didn't seem to want to "cling" to the surfaces as before, but wanted to flow down the sides easier/faster/better--making our after-shower squeegee clean-ups much easier/faster. I'm pretty sure that is causing less immediate scaling...but it will take a few more months to be sure of that. I'll try to update this review as we observe further over the next 12 months or so...but it does look promising. We can't yet validate the promises of stopping, or reversing, scale build-up in our piping...besides, it probably would take a couple of years to undo the impacts of the previous 14 years of scale build-up. That part is still wait-and-see.But for the money spent, we're more than satisfied with the results already achieved. If it doesn't do anything else for us, the Clearwave has proven to be a good purchase...as long as it holds up for 3-4 years. Assuming it does, then it goes into my Top Ten List of Consumer Purchases we've made, EVER!I'll let others argue the science here...I'm not a water treatment expert or an electrical engineer. For me the key question is: Would I buy it again? Would I recommend it to a friend? The answer to both questions is a resounding YES!

This works!
I never heard of a product like this before, but I was willing to give it a try because my laundry just didn't get as soft as the last house I lived in, both homes in Arizona. It was super easy to install - but I couldn't put it directly on top of the pipe, so I put it just below. The first day I noticed a stronger water pressure on my kitchen sink. The first week I noticed my towels and clothes were softer. Now, about the third week, I am noticing less water spots on my counter. The water spots used to dry up and and leave a white film, now the spots are barely noticeable on my stainless steel counter. I have not noticed a difference in the taste or PPM of my water, but that is not what this product claims to do. I'm very happy with the results. The only negative thing I can say about it is that the light is on all the time, its a series of lights that pulsate constantly. If you install it in a prominent spot then you can see the lights pulsating constantly, but this doesn't bother me because it is in my garage.

Fixed a pipe problem for us, make sure you know what you are getting
We used the previous version of this product (the Clearwave HD-1) in our last house in Virginia, purchased this one for our new home in Colorado. The main reason we got the previous one was that there was so much scale buildup in our pipes that the hot/cold valve in one of our showers got clogged so that no hot water would come out, despite replacing the cartridge. The shower was poorly designed and had no access panel to replace the valve from behind the tile, so we would have had to break down the tile or the rear wall to replace it, a $1000 proposition either way. So, we decided to try the $150 Clearwave to see if it made a difference. Lo and behold, 3 days after installing it, our shower was back to its normal water pressure on hot, and kept working for a good 6 years until we sold the house. We changed nothing else in that entire time, so by process of elimination it must have done the trick. Some other notes:1. It does NOT totally eliminate residue. If you are expecting your fixtures to have absolutely no film or hard water stains, look to a traditional expensive salt-based water softener. What the Clearwave does do is make the film less and easier to clean up. When before we had to take C/L/R and a razor blade to our residue, after the Clearwave it was just C/L/R and a paper towel.2. Make sure to install it as close to your water main shutoff as possible, before pipes branch off to other parts of your house, to ensure that the treatment affects all the water in your home.3. Take the radio interference warning seriously...make sure there are no WiFi routers, cordless phones or other radio using devices within 10 feet of the unit where you are installing the Clearwave4. Put a surge protector on it and reset the unit (unplug it for a minute, plug it back in) once every couple months.
