It works GREAT!! Would buy again.
I recently purchased and used the no bent pins cf card reader. So far so great. Easy to use. Windows 11 sees reader when instead into USB port. Files transfer quickly. Build quality is durable.

smart and fast
I specifically chose this unit because I have had past USB card readers fail at the cable. So this one attracted me because of the no-cable design. I could do without the rounded design but I guess they wanted something to stand out.It has a nice tactile finish, and though one might balk initially at it not being 1023 IN ONE type card reader, you have to ask yourself how often are you actually reading cards of all those crazy configurations. For me I am using SD, MicroSD and CF. MicroSD goes into the adapter for the 5D3 and into the SD slot in my macbook. I take it out of the adapter for the GoPro hero and back in to read it again. So really I am covered on those, and all I really need is a reliable and fast CF reading solution. Apart from the no-cable design here, the reader features a very deep socket and advertises "no-bend" pins which is really quite great. Once you bend the pins on a CF card reader you know the pain of trying to fix it.I tested this in a Macbook Pro, and was able to achieve 50MB/sec read and 100MB/sec write to my Lexar 800x card. Though the card is rated to "max speed of 120MB/sec", the read seems effectively capped at 50MB/sec inside the 5D3 so not really surprised to see the same result on the Macbook. So, in summary:1. simple design with no cables2. performs to my hardware spec on fairly high performance card3. has a reliable and robust socket4. nice tactile feelAlso can't tell from the pictures but it does have a blue LED to show when it's powered. This turns on if it's plugged in, card or no card.Highly recommended so far.

very good card reader
I bought two of these because I use CF cards for installing Windows 95 and Windows 98 on my IBM Aptiva from 1996. Once I successfully install windows I take the card out and clone it to another CF card for a back up so that when I eventually corrupt the windows install trying to get the Voodoo 3DFX video card to work, then all I have to do is clone my back up to the card and then try other settings/drivers until I can get everything to play well together. Old computers are fun but can be a big pain to get them to work correctly. I finally did get the ISA sound card to work...one small victory.

Finally a card reader done right!
I am very pleased with the PixelFlash USB 3.0 CF Reader. I had previously purchased GMYLE USB 3.0 Multiple Memory Card Reader from Amazon to upload my Canon RAW files off my CF Cards but my Dell XPS Touch One 27 2710 has every built in memory card reader except a CF card reader. The GMYLE seems to conflict with the built-in internal memory card reader in this Dell. None of the reader slots on the GMYLE would work so I had to resort to downloading my raw files directly from the camera using the built in USB 2.0 connection from my Canon 5D Mark III. Raw files are 27-29 megabytes each so a couple of hundred images would take a while. The PixelFlash USB 3.0 is a CF only card reader but it works without any conflict. When I plug in my 32-gig cards into the reader and then into one of the side USB 3.0 ports on the PC, Windows 8 Pro will ask if I wish to import my files with Adobe Lightroom 4.0 ... Perfect!!! I say yes, Lightroom loads, I click on import and a few minutes later all of my images were imported. Quick, simple, and no problems. If you are a photographer and you have a computer with a built-in memory card reader, but it doesn't have a CF card slot and you have had conflicts with other external card readers, give this one a try. As for speed, it seems slightly faster compared to importing raw images with the GMYLE on my Dell Inspiron 7201 laptop, but not by much. I'm just happy I can add them to my desktop quickly since the desktop is my photo editing PC.

Good for Compact flash but won't work with IBM microdrives
The product is nice. The insert slot is deeply recessed so it guides the card so the pins won't bend. My camera will take Compact Flash Cards AND IBM Microdrives which pin wise are identical to Compact Flash Cards. However, IBM Microdrives are a tiny bit thicker so they will not fit ( about a mm ). Overall though, it does Compact Flash Cards fine and it looks as if the pins won't bend. I'm paranoid so I gently insert one. But, if you want it to read IBM Microdrives ( I don't know about the thickness of other brands ), you will have to look elsewhere. If you are just looking for a Flash Card Reader ( not SD card ), then I would give it 5 stars. The reader is about 6mm at it's widest so about 3mm from the center line to the widest which will prevent things to be plugged in next to it that are too close.

works great!
I ordered this to read embroidery files on a machine that Babylock no longer supports. This memory card reader is a must, and works beautifully!

Love it, BUT....
First off, I have owned two of these CF card readers. I LOVE that the pins do not bend! I have owned other brands and they quickly broke due to pins bending. This reader works quickly and I like that it plugs directly into my computer with no extra cords. However, with that being said, the USB part seems to not stay in place after a year or two of use. The plastic that holds the metal part of the USB in seems to get loose and then the computer has issues reading the card unless it is set up the perfect heigh with a notebook or something. I tried to see if I could take the reader apart to tighten up somethings on the inside but it seems impossible. I know it has a 3 year warranty but the two I have owned have not lasted 3 years and dealing with getting a replacement is such a hassle. I tried with my first reader.

Not good quality
The Transcend Reader is far better if you have to adjust with non readable.

The PixelFlash CF reader is better made, more compact and provides smoother (more accurate) insertion than the Lexar Pro Workflow CF reader, and is less expensive too. I had no end of trouble with CF/SD multi-readers failing and/or refusing to eject after a few weeks or months. This works well and has very good transfer speed.

Best Compact Flash reader ever used
This product is a high quality product and is the best compact flash card reader I have ever used. I have used many CF card readers over the years as a professional photographer and this one is built to last. The USB 3.0 connectivity makes for very fast transfer speeds. I hope to use this device for many years to come.
