A very good slicer out of the box
I purchased this as a lower cost alternative to a VG10 blade that was just too expensive to justify. I kept this in the box, and did not use it until I had about 6 bacons to slice up. I was really pleased at the ease of use of this slicer. It gave me excellent, thin to thick bacon slices, and was sharp enough out of the box to do the job no problem. When finished, I simply stropped the blade, and returned it to it's original box. Very good product for medium to light slicing tasks. The blade was sharp, and did not dull with my amount of use. Stropped easily back to original sharpness. Nice balance and easy to hold and use. I am very satisfied for the price. I have had no issues with rust, and the blade came scratch free. Handle is comfortable. I have no complaints and it exceeded my expectations, so it gets 5 stars based on the value price and overall quality. I can recommend this product 100%.

🎶I'm so excited.... then I looked at the knife
I was extremely excited to see this on my dinner table... then I opened her up.Value:Out of these box this knife feels like what I've been wanting for ages. This is the knife to make my brisket presentation look so much better! The etchings are distinct and noticeable.Sturdiness:The blade is straight and durable, the handle feels like it should in the hand and the weight is just about perfect. She does feel just a smidge heavier in the butt (try saying that to your wife), but I think I like that... :pNow the shitty partPresentation:I really like how it came a cleaning cloth, it's own decorative box and "sheath". It'l be great to show off. However, the blade has VISIBLE AND NUMEROUS nicks where the sharpening stone/CNC machine was dull or malfunctioning and this wasn't caught by QA/QC. The butt of the handle was cut improperly and there's a visible break out in the handle material. The polishing on the steel has distinct imperfections in it, almost as though I can tell a story if how this went thru the processes of manufacturing. It looks like crap, take the monkeys at the zoo and irritate them pretty good then they'll throw this knife in your direction. From the reviews I read expected better.

The Kessaku Carving Slicing Knife is a well-balanced knife
After I smoked a 19 pound packer brisket, I commenced with the maiden application of this knife. Before I started, merely holding the knife properly provided a well-balance grip and made the knife feel a lot lighter than it is.This brisket turned out to have a tougher bark than normal and required additional pressure to cut through. Once pass the bark, the knife cut through both the point and flat portions with ease. This knife comes with a very much appreciated blade protector.Since this is my first use of this item, no longevity feedback can be provided.I would buy this knife again, if needed, and it would make a great and very well appreciated gift to anyone who needs to carve meat and lacks the proper cutlery.

Wow! Amazing quality and value.
I was looking at slicer knives for quite some time, trying to find one that would be short enough to keep in my knife roll, and I was worried about getting some of the cheaper ones, but the prices on some high-end knives was ridiculous. After much browsing, I kept coming back to the Kessaku 12" carver/slicer. It was in the low-middle of the price range but the reviews were terrific and the photos and description were intriguing. I pulled the trigger.I. Could. Not. Be. Happier. Just the right amount of flex/stiffness, arrived very sharp, ready to carve. And the presentation box? Well, I may be tempted to keep it in the nice box instead of my knife roll. And it comes with an edge guard, too. The finish is impeccable, the G-10 handle is gorgeous, and from my experience with G10 on pistol grips, I expect them to be virtually indestructible. I love this knife. I'm tempted to replace other knives I have with Kessaku versions, but that would just be wasteful. But I am still tempted. I cannot recommend these highly enough.

Now THIS is a knife!
Briskets beware, this knife is coming for you. Sturdy, aesthetically pleasing, sharp, and in a gift/storage box - this is a great knife for the price. Indentation lines in vertical fashion (perpendicular) down the blade are supposed to help with an easier cut. Long enough for a full package brisket. Cuts with ease. Sharp right out of the box. Comes with a blade guard (the blade/safety guard isn’t locking to the knife and isn’t heavy duty, but will protect the knife and protect you if it’s on the knife when in a drawer, etc.) I recommend!

Haven't had an opportunity to use it yet, so this is just first impression
Beautiful knife that comes in a display quality box along with a nice knife protector for use in a storage drawer. Feels great in the hand and seems to be nice quality. While sharp, it's not really a razor edge like you would get on other knives known for their sharpness (i.e. Global brand knives). I rushed the review, as they offer a knife sharpener gift if you provide a review and your order information. Based on what I know so far, I'm satisfied and would buy again. Time will tell if it is durable and how well it slices.
