Swirled Amber Glass Octopus Accent Lamp Bronzed Base

I have this lamp, i have received many many complements on it, and i really do love it. I am only writing a review because i see a review that says it is made of plastic, and this is COMPLETELY UNTRUE. I dont think people would outright lie, but this could not be more wrong-this lamp, or at least the one I received, has a glass body and the tentacles are metal. The only plastic is the toggle switch on the rubber cord.

I love this lamp. I had it in my cart on Amazon for almost a year. It's not something that I needed, but I had to have it. It looks good in my reef tank room. I just really love the look of it.I'm only going to mark down the rating by one star due to cost vs materials. The quality of materials is not worth the price tag on this. The tentacles are made of plastic, but painted a bronze paint. The glass seems to be a decent thinkness, but the first one that I received was cracked.With that being said, I still love the lamp.

I wan't expecting to like it so much, but this is a beautiful little lamp.The base is a bit darker than expected, but the glass is gorgeous and the base itself is sculpted with a great degree of detail. The cord-mounted thumb switch also makes a very solid click when switching on and off. The eyes were glued securely in place, the glow of the glass is exactly what we were hoping for out of an accent lamp, and the shape of the head perfectly echoes the curve of the dome chair that it sits next to.It arrived in a very secure packing: fitted into molded foam, which fit perfectly into a small box, which was then surrounded by peanuts in a larger box. A bit of the inner foam managed to get smudged onto the cord, but it came off easily enough with a scrape of a thumbnail.

Medium weight so I’m not worried it will fall off a table if my cat pulls on the cord. I wish it had an LED bulb initially but no problem. The head is held on by two spring-loaded “arms”, it’s very easy to assemble (literally two pieces and a lightbulb) which is good because the instructions that were provided were for some different light LOL.Perfect for my Jules Verne living room.

This baby is lovely and has added a lot of character to my room. That being said, there are a few things I would like to point out:A) This lamp is small, but oh-so-cool.B) The base is BRONZED, not bronze. This means that it has a bronze finish, but it's NOT metal.C) This lamp weighs very little.I LOVE MY LAMP.There was one mistake that saddened me, and that was the right eyeball was poorly inserted and there is excess glue around the socket. There was more unnecessary glue smeared across the forehead, but that came off with a little bit of scrubbing. I may try to reset the eyeball sometime. I wouldn't let this hopefully isolated incident dissuade me from buying it again.

It seems to be a quality accent piece. Though , if you are looking for something to see or read by, skip it. It gives off light adequate for a night light, but is a bit large for that purpose.

A few words of warning, if your buying the outside of the US be aware that the power flow doesn't match. I was brash and foolish and ground down the fat prong on the plug, and then promptly blew the light up.In the end I had to change the whole fitting to one that would work in my region (Australia). Doable but a bit of work, tools, time and some know how required.The only real negative I have is that the eye of the octo look kind of derp when I turn the lamp on, that and my girlfriend hates it, hardly seller fault there though.

I am very impressed with this product, it is so much cooler in person than it is in the picture. The seller shipped it very fast and also focused on the packaging and making sure it wouldn't break. I could've pushed the box down the stairs and it would've probably been fine (though I don't suggest it). I plan on ordering another one for a different house when I can save up the money.
