Go ahead and try to find my journal!
You can't - because it's neatly tucked away in this gem of a secret book safe. Not that I'm paranoid or anything. I mean, just because I live alone doesn't exclude the possibility of someone finding all my daft ramblings about my day, my latest wacky dreams, or the awesome tuna salad I had for lunch. I know, I know...most people post those things on Facebook. But I'm not a big fan of sharing every minute of my life - and I'm even less excited about the possibility that I might drop dead and Cousin It might find out how annoying I really think his hair is and how many times I've fantasized about taking a giant pair of scissors to it!So now, I write away to my heart's content. Secret recipes. Secret crushes. Secret plots to take over the world. And then I lock it away in my secret book safe and hide it in plain sight among all the other reference books that live with me.No, it won't fool anyone making a close inspection. But really, when was the last time you went to someone's house and got all excited about their reference book collection? Even from a close distance casual glance, it's remarkably easy to mistake it for an actual book. The inside area is a generous size. I actually have two medium journals tucked away in there right now (What? I've got a lot of SECRET stuff!!!). The lock is sturdy enough to evade casual groping. I'm certain it wouldn't stand up to a determined effort but, hey, if someone really wants the gumbo recipe that badly, all they have to do is beg. And plead. Groveling wouldn't hurt. And possibly bribe me with good-quality dark chocolate.I wouldn't hide my life savings in this - or any papers that are irreplaceable. I doubt seriously it's fireproof. But, if you have small to medium sized things that you just don't want visitors to be able to get their hands on easily (like your take-over-the-world plots), it's a good buy.

Got the job done.
It has worked well as a book safe and didn't cost too much, considering I've seen much more expensive ones offered elsewhere. You can't tell it apart from other books on the shelf. My only complaint is what others have written, that the binding doesn't stay on too well. The cover is obviously supposed to lift up so that you can open the safe but when you lift it, the part that covers what would be the spine of the book comes off too. I'm pretty sure it isn't supposed to do this and that only leaves the back cover attached to the safe. If that were to come off, you'd basically have just a cover and a safe and be on your own to glue them back together. That said, whether it'd be a good idea to buy this may depend on how often you will need to be opening it. I've had it a couple of months and have only opened it once because I don't need to access the documents I keep there very often. For someone who is going to keep things in it that are needed on a regular basis, I don't know how long it will last before the whole cover coming off thing becomes an issue. I also don't know if a more expensive book safe would be better quality or if price doesn't have anything to do with it.

The lock works well and the metal case is sturdy. The spine of the book blends in with ...
This serves its purpose perfectly. I use it to store documents and extra cash that I don't want to leave out or stick in a drawer. It holds a folded standard piece of paper (such as a folded car title). The lock works well and the metal case is sturdy. The spine of the book blends in with other books on my shelf. The cover design which is meant to look textured, but is a flat coating, appears a little shiny in bright light, but it's fine amongst the other books. If someone were to take it off the shelf it would be obvious that it's fake, but that's not likely to happen in the event of a break-in. This would also work well to keep small items and paperwork away from prying eyes. If you live with someone who likes to snoop, they won't be able to access the contents of the safe without the keys. There may be more realistic looking diversion safes out there, but for the price and functionality, this is worth it.

Hide it in plain sight
The book safe appears sturdy in construction on the exterior as well as the interior metal safe portion. While the metal safe is not tamper proof, it at least provides basic protection from prying eyes and those with less than felonious tendencies. I'm sure it would not take too much effort to forcibly open the simple locking mechanism by one who is motivated to do so. But if tamper proof security is a major concern of yours, then you shouldn't be looking for a book safe at all. The appearance in general is without question that of a dictionary. In that regard it is a fine way to hide its contents among other books. I have purchased 3 of these thus far, 2 for myself and one for an adult child of mine. Bottom line, it offers inexpensive basic level of security for valued items by its chameleon-like qualities and decent locking compartment to keep out all but those with criminal intent. FYI, when I purchased this product it was much less than the present listed price of $29.99 at Amazon.

Inexpensive Effective Way To Keep Medicine Out of Sight and Reach of Children
I don't think this would fool any professional thiefs, but it's perfect for storing medicine that you want to make sure stays out of view and reach of children and teens. I feel better locking up any medicine that could be harmful and it's the type of item kids of all ages would have no interest in. On a book shelf where only the binding and title shows, a thief might not notice it but if it were removed from a bookshelf it would be obvious that it's not a real book based on the material it's made of and it contains no real pages. But it suits my purpose of stowing away medicine perfectly!

Nice, Solid, Credible Disguise
This is a solid metal box disguised to look like a book. When you open up the metal cover there is a metal door with a lock. You can put smallish items in there like jewelry or some cash (the space internally is maybe 4"x6"), then place it among books on a bookcase. Note: if you look at it super closely you will see it is not a book. I wouldn't leave this on display on its own and hope to fool people. But I own a lot of books and someone would have to carefully exam my book collection for this book to stand out amidst my other hard covers. I like this, and I would buy another one. I just wish they had more covers - I can't really credibly have multiple dictionaries on the same bookshelf.

I like it.
It's actually navy, but the color looks nice. If you examine it closely, you may see the pages are made from plastic. However, if you put it on shelf, I really doubt if anyone can find it different from other books. It looks like a real book on shelf. The safe itself has enough space to serve my needs. It's a very good product!

Knowledge is Safety!
Came with the binding slightly ripped, but it's barely noticeable and adds to the character a bit. I lock up my passport and loose jewelery in this when we leave the house for a weekend. Works great and provides peace of mind.

Awesome
Very pleased with the product. the book face and spine are very realistic - It even has bends in the corner to show a bit of wear. Can lock and hide small items, and comes with two keys.

Looks real
Great safe. Looks like a real book from far away. Only complaint is it is not small! It's quite big.
