A wonderful trip into the past
A good reproduction of a classic styled joystick. It brings back many memories of the old joysticks I used on my Atari 2600, VIC 20, Commordore 64 amd Amiga 500. Using it to play old games on an Amiga emulator is a wonderful trip into the past. I miss those old games and days. Todays games lack the game play that the old ones have. This has increased my enjoyment greatly.

A good joystick for its cost.
Came in a nice box fully assembled, feels about as weighty as it looks in your hand and has good grip when placed on a desk with its rubber feet. I never used the original DTV joystick this is based on but very much reminds me of a Namco one I had in the past. Great piece of retro and fernweh (German word meaning "Wistfulness for a place you've never been/couldn't go to) paraphanelia that I hope to pour many hours into. A word of caution based on my own experience and what others have posted, if you're more used to arcade cabinets or DTV joystick devices that had a lot of play in the joystick, this one is very stiff with a small actual control area and if you slam it around too much you're likely to see the breaking I'm seeing in other customer reviews. Also when you first open it it might seem very stiff, but roll the joystick around for like ten or twenty minutes (Watch your favorite bingable show or a youtube video) and the stiffness goes away.

A dinosaur's dream.
For those of us who remember playing Pacman in the arcades, this is the perfect joystick. Just the right size and terrific N/S/E/W response. The big fire buttons are perfect for the shooting/jumpimg games like DigDug and DonkeyKong. So simple to operate, no setup or programming, just plug into your laptop and game away. There has to be legions of gamers like me who are frustrated with modern video games where you have to go to college and have hands like a brain surgeon to play. KISS certainly applies here, the best video games just require a joystick and one fire button.

It's alright, not the nicest out there
Originally bought it to connect my Raspberry Pi to and worked right out of the box. The buttons are fine, overall the build is fine. The only.part I don't like is the joystick, I grew up with the Pacman Plug and Play joystick, so this one was very firm with little play. If you're thinking of using it for retro games, maybe try something else if they're quick reflex games. Other than the joystick being firm, it's fine

This isn't the microswitch version - False description
Ordered a c64 mini, and the joystick that came with it, was the weakest link. So i bought this thinking it was the microswitch version. Its just the exact same as what came with the mini. A flimsy lightweight, cheap feeling non microswitch pile of poop. Within 5 seconds of it in the hand, straight back in the box it went and a return was created. Sadly i was looking forward to a night of nostalgia, all i got was a trip to Kohls to return this instead.

Great value, great controller for mini C64
Works well with my mini C64. I bought USB splitters so I'm able to have a USB keyboard, 2 of these controllers and a USB flash drive with games hooked up to one mini C64. Brings back so many memories.

Works
Plugged this into a USB port on my hub, was recognized by my Mac immediately, worked perfectly with the game I bought it for.

A budget stick.
If you are wanting a competition pro type experience this isn't it. It uses rubber membranes instead of tactile and leaf switches which change the feel entirely and may throw you off if you are expecting the feedback. It has metal weights in the bottom to make it feel heavier than it actually is. But the price is half of what you would pay for one of the new speedlink sticks and it definitely feels better than a gamepad for Amiga games.

Works really well however the cable breaks fair easily. Easily repairs with some electrical tape though.

Poor quality lasted no longer than a few weeks before.the handle snapped clean off

This arrived when promised (in time for Christmas) and as soon as you touched it, you can tell it's better than the one that ships with the C64 mini. That one is lightweight and feels weak. This one feels strong and works well. Its response is, in fact, a little stiff, but I'm sure that will change with use.

Bought for a narrow purpose (needed something with few buttons and easy to manipulate). Seems to work. Not fancy. USB a definite plus.

Cheap one where the joystick breaks at the stem. Stay away. Get the mechanical one instead.
