If your a serious luthier you're not even going to look at this set. If you're a guitar owner looking to do simple maintenance like me, you are probably going to consider it.All of the tools in this kit are low quality. They'll get the job done a few times, but don't expect these tools to last for years of guitar upgrades and repair.The included ruler is mostly useless for measuring string height, which is probably what most people are looking for in a guitar kit ruler. Like most cheap rulers the physical edge of the ruler isn't at the zero point on the ruler scale so you can't really use it to measure string height.The string winder/cutter is OK. It will cut string no problem, but the winder is made from brittle feeling plastic and doesn't feel sturdy at all.The feet rocker sends good. All of the edges are straight as far as I can tell. The allen wrenches are OK, but only come in larger sizes which means your won't be able to adjust your string height without getting a set of smaller allen wrenches. The string pitch guage is useless as it isn't accurately printed. The files are OK but are cheaply made and won't stand up to much use.All in all, if you're looking for something cheap just to try out simple repairs & maintenance this kit will at least let you try a few things out. However if you have several guitars to maintain or like to regularly tinker this kit probably isn't for you.

I didn't expect much for 13 bucks but this set is just TOO cheap. The "files" aren't files, they're steel with some kind of aggregate glued to them. The screwdriver is a cool design but the one Phillips tip is not the right size for the application. The metal fingerboard protectors have a serious burr on the bottom edges from the stamping process that have to be sanded off before use. When checked on a surface plate, the steel fret rocker isn't perfectly flat either. Probably close enough but..... It's going back.

I got this for the string action guide, the Truss rod wrenches and, the string winder / snips because i figured i could have all the extra stuff as a kit for when I need it and this kit has not disappointed me yet! Sure the fret files are pretty questionable but in a pinch they will work, they just dont seem like they would last as long as a real fret file would but for the price of this kit it was a much better deal than buying the stuff i needed separately.

It comes with pretty much any of the essential tools needed for the basic repair, maintenance, and upkeep of your stringed instrument. However, it does not come with any kind of set of instructions/details of the tools inside. But my biggest issue is that the description says it can be used for bass guitar as well. Unfortunately, the string winder will only work with bass guitars that have the smaller sized tuning machines/keys. Not compatible with the larger size commonly used with most styles of bass guitar.

For a cheap kit you get more than what you'd expect. Just go easy with the files, you'll need a polishing kit for your frets if you use them.

Lots of tools for cheap. But they are cheap. Cheap plastic, flimsey and the fret rocker isnt flat which is crucial to checking fret level. I had to file 2 of the sides to make it usable.

Nice kit for the money. My only complaint would be that they add a string action gauge instead of the fritz rule. Money well spent of you own one guitar or several .
