Works as expected, with expected sturdiness. Very convenient.
My grandmother used to have a very similar device to chop nuts when I was a kid. I've been considering buying one of these... And I'm glad I did. Frozen peacon halves were my first test... A little difficult to turn the handle. The next test was refrigerated pecan halves... Worked great. I will update this review when I chop whole Brazil nuts for my next ice cream.

Perfect for grinding wee*
This item is awesome for grinding wee*. I have used it for 3 years and it works. Sticky or dry this chopper give the perfect grind for wee*.

It's a chopper, not a grinder!
It's a chopper, not a grinder. I was looking for a grinder. That said, it does a fairly good job of chopping. Because the chopper parts form a single inseparable unit, it's easy to handle and clean. So far, it has stood the test of daily nut chopping without breaking. Outside of the chopping blades and the sieve beneath them, everything is plastic, which is a bummer now that we have been warned about the hazards of microplastics.

Works well.
Works well. Breaking nuts for baking is easy and completed quickly.

The 50+ year old one still works better
I grew up with a nut chopper like this. It was great. After my mother passed, one of my siblings asked to keep it. I had been chopping nuts on a cutting board with a large knife, which is always messy. So for my holiday baking, I looked for a nut chopper similar to what I grew up with. This looked like the one! It is cute, comes in different colors, is easy to load and unload, and is easy to clean. But when it comes to chopping nuts, I am not impressed. Almonds in particular really challenge it. I can't just "turn the crank". I have to hold the crank handle close to the container and forcefully push it around. The almonds come out nicely chopped, but if you have any hand issues (arthritis, weak hands, etc.), this is going to be tough for you to use. For softer nuts, like walnuts, it works a little better, but I use lots of almonds. Disappointed.

DO NOT BUY THIS
I thought this would be the answer to my hatred of chopping nuts or paying the high price of chopped nuts in the store. It turns out that the only positive thing I can say is that the retro color is cool. This chopper does not work!! The parts are difficult to put together and don't stay together when you turn the handle to chop nuts unless you push down hard on the top. And even then, if you aren't pressing down straight, the chopper topples over, the components came apart and chopped nuts spill all over your counter. So, after I cleaned up the mess, even though I was turning in the direction to produce larger pieces, at least half of what came out was powder (nut meal); totally unusable for what I was baking! I'm honestly not sure how you're supposed to get the "chopped" nuts out successfully. When I turned the chopper over to empty the bottom compartment, I apparently wasn't holding all the parts together strongly enough because the components came apart again...nuts all over the counter!! This chopper has serious design issues!! I wish I had returned this after the first use but I decided to try it again knowing all I had learned about it. The second time was only marginally better. I still had to man-handle it and I basically got nut powder in the end. I was going to give it to Goodwill but decided it wouldn't be fair to whoever bought it and threw it away instead. I have only ever written one bad review before this and didn't really want to spend the time writing this one, but I felt strongly that I needed to tell of my experience.

Great nut grinder
When I received this nut grinder I was impressed with its size. The top of the grinder fits quite a few nuts. I also like you can chop them coarse or fine. The base is quite large and holds up to 1 1/2 chopped nuts and has an easy removal bottom which does not move on the counter when using. This is by far the best chopper I have purchased!!

I bought this item to primarily chop up brazil nuts, which are notoriously hard. This is such a wonderful little device, it does a cracking job. I have found it best to process just one nut at a time, there are 2 settings one for coarse chopping, the other for fine chopping, and it all comes apart very easily for washing. The fact that it isn't electrical means that you can control the degree to which the nuts are chopped. I'm very pleased with it. I think it's fantastic.
