Sharp R-309YK R309 Series 1.1 Cubic Feet 1000-watt Microwave Oven, Mid-Size, Black

This microwave is a very basic Sharp oven. I have had a Sharp microwave for years and it just went out. This new Sharp R309 series heats food thoroughly and it fits right on my stand where I had the old one. I cannot find anything wrong with it and I hope it lasts as long as the last one I had.

While I don't believe that all of the microwaves are this way, the one I received made a noisy grinding sound. I am returning it as even though it currently works, it's too loud and I fear that it's an indication that something will actually break soon. Assuming that the other microwaves aren't like this, it's a nice microwave for the money and pretty much does what you expect a microwave to do. There is one odd quirk that I should point out though. The light does not come on when you open the door. This is not a defect but is by design for some reason. The instructions state the the light only comes on when the microwave is running. I found that a bit odd but it doesn't really affect the operation of the machine any.

Bought this oven in September 2013, it lasted to the end of May 2014, about 9 months then stopped r function, no longer it heat up anything placed in the oven I bought this SHARP microwave oven because of my previous good experience with this brand two of them each lasting over 10 years. Very disappointing

Today is June 7th, 2016 and this Microwave is done! I purchased this on 10/13/2013. I wanted to like this model and had high hopes based on all the previous reviews. I had done my research and settled on this model because of the price, wattage and size. Oh well...into the trash it goes. It started giving me problems about a month ago. It would cut off in the middle of heating something up for less than 5 mins. Also, the clock constantly 'zero's' itself out and it basically doesn't work anymore. Not very good for something that you expect to last for at least 8-10 years and it doesn't even last 3. Good thing I purchased an extended warranty from Asurion. (You'll need it!) The warranty expires in October 2016, so I literally just made it. Asurion didn't even offer to repair it. They just sent me a check. So all in all, I ended up paying $19 dollars for this, which is about all it's worth. If you enjoy throwing money away and buying new Microwave ovens every 2-3 years, then this is the one for you! I didn't even cook in this and I didn't even use any of the presets except for the popcorn button. So it's not like I can even say I put this Microwave through the ringer. Please... pass on this one!

It cooks well and the defrost (by weight ) works really well also as it defrosts without partially cooking the frozen item.It is not overloaded with options nor is it difficult to learn to use. The expected performance that is a Sharp product. It, however, does not have a kitchen timer built in it. I do miss that.

My old microwave still worked but it did not have a turntable. I'm over seventy and I found this product easy to use, and not that much noise. I like products that work without the drama.

Great purchase! Bought this along with other things for my daughter's new apartment and it hit the mark on many levels - inexpensive, nice looking and works well.

No light when the oven door is open.Compact size,heats evenly,no timer. Gets the job done Flimsy contruction. Not up to par with my previous Sharp oven

Light Only turns when I am cooking food not when door opens..... there is no way to put a cook time in... other then that's a microwave
