One of the best in the Oz series
This is the eighth book of the series written by L. Frank Baum. Baum is a master at creating mystery and adventure and he has consistently done that in most of the books in this series. All of them are so interesting. Not just for kids but also for some adults who want to read different kind of fiction. Baum has been known to like this book the most as one of his personal favourites for the amount of time it took him to write this one and the new stages, plots and characters he introduced. The real fun begins in a deserter side of Oz, in the small place caled Oogaboo. Their Queen Ann Soforth gathers an unlikely army and is determined to conquer the rest of Oz. The question is why and whether she will succeed. Meanwhile, a girl from Oklahoma named Betsy Bobbin and her companion, Hank the mule, are washed ashore in the Rose Kingdom, a magical land of talking roses. This is a big twist in the book There they meet the Shaggy Man, who is on a quest to rescue his brother from the clutches of the wicked Nome King. Betsy, Hank, and the Rose Princess join the Shaggy Man on his journey, and before long they meet up with Polychrome, the Rainbow's Daughter; Tik-Tok; and Queen Ann with her army. The journey continues in the typical Baum style.

Fairly good read. Lots of good characters but get the feeling he is writing sequels for fun and money. Like the dragon.

Baum's imagination at work in another example from The Land of Oz. Highly entertaining, escapist for all ages to enjoy. John Holms.

The Magic Returns
This is yet another fun adventure in a magical country. Both with old friends, such as the Shaggy Man, Polychrome the Rainbow’s Daughter, and Tik-Tok the machine man, as well as new friends, Betsy Bobbin, Hank the Mule, and the people of Oogaboo, a province of Oz, this adventure also involves the infamous Nome King.Full of magic and intrigue, ‘Tik-Tok of Oz’ is a grand journey in search of the long-lost brother of the Shaggy Man. The characters are as dear as you remember, and Betsy Bobbin is just as kind as Princess Dorothy herself. Though most of the journey is through magical kingdoms that are not Oz, the story culminates in that beautiful land, which is still ruled by the wonderful girl ruler Ozma.If you enjoy the other Oz books, this book should be added to your collection. Written in the same, simple way as the others before it, and no less charming and magical, the continuation of the beloved world of Oz and the adventures of the many characters we’ve followed for so long is another mark in the legacy of the man who invented them.

MISLEADING
This Kindle e-book is the Project Gutenberg online edition, one of many public domain books in e-book format supposedly for free. There are NO ILLUSTRATIONS! There is nothing about this book that indicates that it is a Barnes & Noble special edition. I figured this was the case and purchased the book to confirm it. I have the book with its original illustrations. The only positive about this book is that it is the original Baum story which is very fun to read.

Look for a different edition of this book
This review is for the physical edition of the book, not the content of the story. The story is the usual L. Frank Baum excellence, but this particular edition of the book is poorly put together. It arrived much larger than expected. The illustrations look as though they were scanned at a low resolution and then enlarged at the same low resolution, resulting in low-quality illustrations. Most of the pages have a dark background, as though they were simply scanned from another edition of the book and then printed as an image rather than as text. Do not consider this edition of this book. Keep looking for a better-quality edition.

book
its a book. you read it and figure out for yourself if you like it or not. its not the new best seller. its a tried and true classic. you either know what you are getting or you dont. honestly if i knew i would be asked to review free movies and books i would have probably not gotten them in the first place. i dont have to review but writting reviews is the only way to keep the list short and manageable to gain access to the things that a review is truly vaild for.

It really isn't about Tik Tok
It was a good book, the title should have been Betsy Button or something else. It was fun to read.

This "newly formatted" edition was formatted very poorly.
We are working our way through the Oz books with our 4-year-old and honestly love them all. This review is specifically about the formatting of this edition (the story itself is great). The "lots of large pictures" are obviously just blown up from the original and look like poor quality enlargements. The cover is pixelated. Their font choice was unusual for a book and not pleasant to read (it would work fine for an email, but not in large quantities). I wish we had purchased a used copy of an older edition instead - this looks like the layout was done by someone new to books.
