It works!
I recently upgraded my laptop to a MacBook Pro 2021 14" which came with USB-C only connectors. I needed to access external hard drives mounted on a dock with slots for different disks, cards, USB devices, etc. The dock has an eSATA slot and this cable allows me to use with the new laptop. It may be just me or the fact that the new laptop is much faster than the old one but with the new cable access to the old files feels a lot snappier than they used to using just the mini USB connector. I totally recommend it.

Plug and play and usual StarTech.com good build quality - hand to sand the plug down.
I'm pleased with this cable now it's in use, working well with my (admittedly, ageing) StarTech.com RAID box. However, I'm subtracting one star because - surprisingly - the eSATA plug end was too bulky to fit through the aperture in the rear casing of my RAID, even though both are made by the same company! I had to sand down 1 or 2 mm off the sides of the plug to use it.

Excellent
What can you say about a cable. It worked well and served the purpose for which I wanted it for.

Economical for fast backups
Easy plug in and go. Several times faster than using USB 3 and no issues. Use it for full PC backup, and checked the backup is still seen when doing recovery when booted into Acronis True Image from a USB stick. The large backup is in an old drive caddy which has an eSATA port. So so USB-C speed without big bucks of a USB-C drive.

My 5 stars refer to my specific use
I connected my Dell XPS workstation to an oldish G/Raid 2TB. It worked immediately and continues to do so. Note that the G/Raid is powered by a separate power supply. The G/Raid operates in Raid 0 configuration and hence appears as a single drive.Speed. The drive seems to be as fast on USB c with this new computer as it was on e-sata on the old computer, but I have not made accurate measurements.

Solid cable
Excellent quality, given my old G-drive new lease of life by connecting it to latest Mac Mini.
