Checkered Flag Performance 3.780" Tapered Piston Ring Compressor

Used this on my LM7 rebuild. I use stock sized pistons and rings and this tool made installing the ringed pistons into the cylinders a breeze. HIGHLY recommend. Personally prefer this over the adjustable compressors as you know you won't be making it too tight or too loose. Obviously the only trade off is having to buy an individual compressor for each engine build assuming you have different cylinder sizes on your other builds.

Made installing the pistons in my 5.3 lm7 a cake walk. The top starts off wide and when you push the piston down it gradually closes the ring gap to fit in the bore. Yes I'll probably only use this 2 or 3 times MAYBE, but it is worth the 20 bucks to compress the rings down to fit easliy

Just finished installing all 8 pistons on my 5.3l build. Works great and is easier to use than the adjustable band style. Only down side is if you change bore size you have to buy another one relating to the new bore size. But, at $20, its worth it. Great tool!

I used this for a set of flat top 4.8L pistons into a 5.3L aluminum block using some Mahle moly rings. This setup was far easier to use than an adjustable compressor. Initially the pistons slid in easily and then a few taps with a wooden rod seated them in the cylinders.

used for stock bore pistons, stock size rings with 20 thou gap.never going back to old style ring compressors ever again.used it only once, i will probably never use it again, but il looks good on my shelf.it will save you a lot of headaches!!

These are inexpensive enough for the shade tree mechanic to own even if you only do 1 motor. I have used the universal ratcheting band type and have cut both hands. This tool makes installing pistons a breeze.

Yes it is bore specific. But you will never install pistons faster than you ever have without it. Fast, easy,great tool for installing stock bore Ls 5.3 pistons.

Worked perfectly on LS 5.3 Vortec rebuild.
