mengmi SSD 240GB 2.5 Inch Internal Solid State Drive SATA III for Boosting PC/Laptop (SSD 240GB)

I was looking for a cheap SSD for reviving an old laptop and this was my choice. Yes, for 5$ more you can buy a 120Gb SSD from the same brand. For what I needed it's better than any HDD and it's doing its job, fast loading the OS and it's silent (..duh, it's a SSD that means no moving parts in it). Will see how good it really is when more time will pass, using it everyday, but so far seems to be a good choice.

Easy to install and vastly superior to previous mechanical HD, esp with built in DRAM cache feature.Funny thing is how quick you get used to the speed improvements. Would hate to have to go back.Longevity is not an issue as I'm pretty certain it will easily outlast a mechanical HD.Now I feel that the processor is the bottleneck at 2.4gHz dual core, but I'm not ready to attempt an upgrade here.

I bought a 120GB and 240GB SSD during the lightning deals on Black Friday. I've only installed the 120GB SSD, so I'm using that for this review.I must say, I was pleasantly surprised that a SATA cable was included with this. (And mildly annoyed, as I had just bought a bunch of them.)I haven't run any benchmarks or anything, so this is a very 'layman' review. First impressions were good, and no issues with installation. (What would you expect? It's a 2.5" SATA drive. It'll fit where 2.5" drives go.) The BIOS detects the drive as a Mengmi SSD, and indeed, once I got an OS installed in it, it boot up just fine, with no issues.I would say, while faster than the 7200RPM HDD I was using before, it just seems a little bit slower than my Samsung or PNY SSD's I used in other builds... but I know it's not a fair comparison, since they were different builds. Also, I can't vouch for its longevity, since I've only had it a few days. But its build quality certainly seems good.All in all, I'm impressed with it. The cheapest SSD's on Amazon I've found, and they impressed me.

Considering this was under £20 I cannot fault it

Replaced our old laptop hard drive with one of these. It's speeded it up hugely, much quicker starting up and it means we don't need to replace the laptop yet.

Great Budget SSD to breathe life into aging systems. Can regularly be found for under $20, haven't had any issues with these so far. Have installed a few in systems for clients and they have been satisfied with the performance in gaming and daily usage.

Fast ssd drive, but had issues with cloning/migrating my windows 10 installation, had to do a new installation on the drive to make it work. Work great with windows 10 now.
