Exactly what's needed to make a non-functional DC port work again
I had an old Alienware laptop that refused to charge. It was a pain to open up the laptop to get to the DC port, but that's a laptop design issue, not the DC port's fault. It was a cinch to snap in the replacement port and get my laptop working again. This saved me literally hundreds of dollars vs. taking it somewhere for repair!

Doesn't work for my L702X
(In the photo the one on the left is the original)So I got my hands on a XPS L702X (the 2011 17in), and the charging port was a bit loose for my liking. I got this as a replacement while doing a repaste/cleaning, however these have their screw mounting much higher compared to the original one, so they don't sit properly as a replacement. You can see from the picture that side-by-side, the original (on the left) has its screw mounting hole much lower than the replacement (on the right). I am holding them upside down in the pictures, this results the replacement to be raised higher than they're supposed to be when actually put inside the laptop.I guess a way to solve this is just to grind down until the plastic wears away, but even with that these replacement ones might still not fit.

Not compatible with Dell XPS L701X!
After cutting down the mount about 4mm to screw the power plug in it does work. But you do have to mod your computer housing in order to make it work. In the end, it works fine and didn't end up fixing my power issues with my Dell anyway, so must be something else.
