Herschel Settlement Backpack, Light Grey Crosshatch, Classic 23.0L

The price on Hershel's actual website and amazon were the same, except with Hershel's website you had to pay for the shipping cost, hence more cost. What drawn me to this brand was their lifetime warranty, however you must purchase from an authorized seller to be under warranty. I contacted Hershel and they said as long as it is sold by and ships from Amazon.com and not a third party reseller, then you are fine.This is a great simple sturdy pack, beautiful colors you can pick from ( I picked olive green) and great size. Great for school, traveling, work, etc. Not sure about their warranty because I have not used it yet but I do know they require a receipt or give you a merchandise credit for some crazy low amount, so make sure you print out the receipt and keep it in a safe place. Someone recommended this to me as a gift for my Dad that was in search of a new backpack. I ordered it and has so far in just a few weeks and 2 trips held up and been perfect. It fits a lot and is durable. It is on the larger side of a backpack but perfect for a quick day trip or overnight stay. He is enjoying it.

I love that this backpack is not bulky like a typical backpack, and that it doesn't slouch when you put it down. The tropical hibiscus backpack is the 23L size, and the navy one is mid-volume 17L size. The laptop in the last photo is a 13" macbook pro for size reference. The midvolume may not look like it's much smaller in the photos, however, it definitely is since the depth is smaller than the 23L one. It's a good size for going to school/work when you just need a couple things in there. However, I have several pouches I need for work - money pouch, adapters, hard drives, water bottle, snacks, etc - so the 23L is a better size. This zippers are sturdy and durable, and just overall a solid backpack!

Fast delivery by seller, am very happy with that. This backpack was purchased as a gift and it suits the recipient just fine as a smaller pack for use for commuting to her first job. Quality appears to be above average, there weren't any loose threads, the fabric is stiff/sturdy, zippers appear to be robust and work smoothly, and this model comes with a unique interior lining vs. the unfinished interiors of most every other backpack on the market. Overall it's a quality backpack.

This is a really great bag. I'd done some research on Herschel's different backpacks and a website said this one was the sturdier of them and even expanded when fully packed. When I first opened it I was greeted with the striped lining and very firm build so it didn't collapse on itself. I'll admit I was skeptical how something so firm could fit a lot but it does. I was able to put my coat in it with my other stuff in it. Now I'm a believer. It seems to resist rain well. (I've only been in rain once with it since getting it) My only complaint is it doesn't have a side pocket or two for a bottle but otherwise great. I've read that the zippers will go out after some time, if that happens, I'll add to this review. So far they seem to be robust but surprisingly smooth for their hardness. Sometimes if you fill it with mostly flat things it won't stand up perfectly on its own but that's a minor issue. If you're looking for something durable, simple, fits a lot of stuff, and stylish, this may be the bag for you! Make sure to get the regular size (not mid volume) if you're a student or need a lot of space for a laptop and books/binders. I got the mid volume and am returning it because it's too small. Kind of a waste for about the same price for so little space that only a 4th grader and younger could use.

I searched for the longest to find this exact backpack that I saw on TV and it was worth it! I get so many compliments on it.

Great for school! I went to college as a freshman this year and I've been using this backpack. It's not super big, so I can easily fit a laptop and a few journals with it to walk to classes without feeling like I brought too much with me! The zippers get a little bit stuck sometimes, and I've definitely scraped myself a good amount on them because of how heavy duty the zippers are, but it's great beyond that! I got this product from the Amazon warehouse, and it was said to be in less than perfect condition, but it looked new when I got it!

Not for students with large books or binders. This is for a novel and a 1” binder. Not for middle school or higher, not for bigger than a tiny laptop. Well made, great piece. I’m happy with quality but a poor choice for school. Not for students. Not for overnights. It is tiny. Bigger than a purse backpack but holds very little.

Great material, been using this bag for 2+ years and it's still great. Only thing to note is getting any white/grey liquids or dye on the bag is very visible.
