Simply Speakers 8 Inch Foam Speaker Repair Kit Compatible with JBL 116A, 116H, FSK-8 (Pair)

I wasted one foam learning how to do the replacement. I overworked the inside edge (which is what you glue first) and the foam started warping like a roller coaster so I removed it and used the other one. This time I just worked the inside edge with a lighter touch and did that for a minute or two then temporarily put the thick gasket (that was removed) back on and flipped the speaker over. Waited an hour then glued the frame edge of the foam and glued the thick gasket on then flipped the speaker over and pushed down on it for a bit. Then let it sit over night, installed back in the speaker enclosure and tried it out. Sounded good, no noticeable distortion, which is how I detected the failed foam in the first place. I'm satisfied, it fit just fine and installation wasn't really that difficult. I am also glad the other speaker is ok or I'd have to buy another set.

I noticed my speakers sounded odd so I popped the covers off and saw the foam surrounds on my JBL XPL 140 speakers fell apart so I decided to try and DIY it myself with this kit. Removing the old foam takes some time but once they're off, cementing the new ones on isn't difficult. My speakers are back to sounding good again. You can see a video tutorial on replacing these on the seller's website. I recommend watching it right before you take on the project.

Simple install - restored a pair of old JBLs I bought for $5 at a yard sale!!! I saw the issue with them while examining them at the sale. I googled a solution which was this edge repair kit and struck a deal immediately for the old speakers. They work great again thanks to this kit.

Fit my JBL 4408A speakers perfectly and the seem to be made of foam rubber I believe, and they are definitely a better quality then the original foam.

High quality kit and great video instructions. My JBL's are like new again. Watch video and do a test fit/trial run before final glue assembly. As noted in video glue takes a minute to set, but gives you time to adjust if necessary. Gently rub the back of the cone with your finger to remove the bulk of the foam/glue. Use enough alcohol to remove all the residual glue. I used an eye dropper and let it soak a bit on the frame. Gluing surround to the back of cone was pretty straight forward. Gluing surround to frame was slightly more effort; go around the perimeter a few times to get the glue to tack and hold. Not hard just another minute or two of effort.

Glue came out dry .. it's hard enough getting the speaker prepped.. got first one on ... Second ring kept folding on the rounded edge... So I tore it off

Speaker repair kit was supposed to come with trim to cover outside edge of speakers. No trim included with repair kit. Other than that repair kit was great and easy to use.

This repair kit took a while to be delivered but once received and installed we were back to playing all our favorite music. Installation was simple with vendor video instructions. Just ordered another set for future.
