Subdued Foot Tapper Carrying A Big Stick
The music was one of the characters in the movie "Drive". Like the characters, it was in many scenes, softly riding in the background until needing to be heard, setting the tone and fading softly into the background again. This soundtrack is catchy and fun in the same way you feel about a song you are about to really like but are just hearing for the first time. It grabs your attention with track one, reels you in with the second and pampers you with the next few. Then, it softly fades into the background with the instrumental tracks, waiting for it's turn to enter the scene again.

some dark and brouding electronica style songs here
Music is a very personal experience and it is hard to convey those emotions to someone else. That said , the movie has one of the best song/scene tie-ins I can remember. The film opens with the Chromatics track "Tick Of The Clock" following along to the action as if they were made for each other. Too bad the MP3 version is an "Album Only" purchase (and it is not available as a single purchase in the Chromatics MP3s store either). As for the other songs ... well , the instrumentals by Martinez are good but the others have vocals and they just don't work for me. If you watch the movie you will want the soundtrack or "Night Drive" the album that "Tick Of The Clock" is taken from.

Great Album to Drive to
I really enjoyed the movie and the sound track stood out so much that I wanted to buy it after I saw the movie. Great music to drive to. Has a nostalgic 80's feel.

Really good soundtrack
The electronica on here harkens back to the 80s, for me. A lot of it has a kind of modern twist on that retro-80s sound, but some of it just sounds... 80s, I guess. Nevertheless, I liked it. I like the instrumentals most of all, I guess. Very rhythmic and hypnotic. See my review of the film itself for further commentary on the soundtrack. Long story short (a first for me!), if you like the soundtracks to movies like Riskey Business (sound track by Tangerine Dream) or The Virgin Suicides (sound track by Air), I think you'll like this one. Listen to clips first, to be sure.

Simply Fantastic - Synth Meets Suspense Meets Love
I rarely do reviews, but a soundtrack this evocative deserves kudos. I feel the same way about the Drive film and soundtrack as I do about the Sling Blade film and soundtrack. I knew I was going to buy each the moment I heard the music in their opening scenes. Both films are brilliant, sweeping understatements where music isn't just afterthought but is an integral part of the story...a rare accomplishment. Brian Eno (Roxy Music, U2, DP, Talking Heads...the list goes on) was the genius in charge of the Sling Blade soundtrack. Cliff Martinez is clearly in the same company as Eno with a varied musical background as RHCP drummer and also soundtracks to Traffic, Solaris and many more. Well done, Mr. Martinez.

Very good sound track with a real gem
So really like this sound track but 'Oh My Love' is timeless, and a real stand out. Man, Just beautiful.

The definition of hyper cool, hyper sensual electronics
Drive is a cinematic masterpiece, but ne whose violence will keep some from appreciating its pulsating heart. Its soundtrack works on so many levels, from the stuttering, pulsing instrumental core to the shimmering trance-like works culminating in the magnificent "real hero". The entire soundtrack serves the film in an intense and insular fashion, but is so well done that it dares you not to like it on its own terms. Grand, icy, romantic, throbbing, sexual yet sweet music that will haunt you after seeing the movie. Highly recommended.

Atmospheric
Atmospheric, electronic music, but I prefer a track order that reflects the movie running order, rather than the band tracks all being stuffed at the front, and the score at the back; it's as if they don't have confidence in the score. Mixing it up makes for variety; an even better bonus would be a few snatches of contextual movie dialogue... but then Ryan Gosling doesn't say much in the film!

Nice sound and presentation
Nice sound and presentation. My record player sends a beam of light to detect the size of the record which in this case is see through so it gets it wrong. Nothing a bit of masking tape over the sensor couldn't fix. Dropping it by 2 stars as only sides a and b are worthwhile listening to and the design on the inside is uninspiring. I guess kind of like the movie if I think about it..

A distinctive soundtrack that can be labelled as ethereal electronic-pop
Drive's soundtrack makes this film so distinctive, or at least how the soundtrack mergers with what is happening with the moving image. This OST can be labelled as ethereal electronic-pop. However, the depiction that straightaway comes to most people's minds is eighties-style synthesiser. Of particular import is the unavoidable '80s/out-of-time melody of a song called 'A Real Hero' by the band called College. This an excellent OST worthy of anyone's music collection, regardless how small your musical tastes maybe.

Great soundtrack with two types of tracks
I enjoyed the movie "Drive" and thought some of the music on the soundtrack was pretty cool so I'm delighted to say it is excellent. The soundtrack is in two parts. The first five tracks are mostly excellent Euro electro pop tracks from artists like Desire and The Chromatics. "A Real Hero" by College featuring Electric Youth is a great track. In these five tracks the "odd one out" is "Oh My Love" from Riz Ortolani featuring Katyna Ranieri, which is like a showstopper by Julie Andrews from a Broadway musical. It really makes you stop and listen though! The other 14 tracks are part of the movie score and were written by Cliff Martinez. These are mostly ambient music type tunes for use in the background of particular scenes in the movie but they are mostly very good.

First couple of tracks great, the rest is a bit Meh!
Having watched the film ages ago, i must have forgot that almost all of the tracks are instrumental, ideal for the film, didn't enjoy listening to it on CD though
