The Encyclopedia of Ayurvedic Massage

I had initially written a poor review, but I now see it had nothing to do with the material but only my lack of ability to comprehend at that time. The essence of Ayurvedic Massage is described so beautifully, and reawakens my reverence and gratitude to be practicing this ancient science. Dr. Douillard is a leader in the field, and has an amazing ability to "decode" Ayurvedic understanding. In gratitude and with Love ~

Wonderful book with in depth explanations.

I have other products by Dr. Douillard and I find all of them very easy to understand and informative. I highly recommend all of his products.

I am a LMT in CT, have taken Ayurvedic classes (marma therapies) also read many books on Ayurveda. I just LOVE this book. This book is perfect for the LMTs out there who love learning from books. More than 3/4 of the book is Ayurvedic Massage Techniques (for one or two therapists massaging the same client). This book includes info and techniques to perform Garshana, Abhyanga, Vishesh, Udvartana, Shirodhara, Swedana, and Facials. Thank you for the wonderful writing & I can't wait for the next volume to this series comes out - intrudicing marma, maha-marma programs & the five senses therapies..it's definately on my list of must reads!

I have not yet read through the book, but in skimming over the contents, it is quite informative and appears to be a great modality to follow swedish massage.

As a Certified Massage Therapist I found this book to be very educational. The only problem that I have with the book concerns many of the images found within it. There is a plethora of images BUT many of the images were so small that I had to use a magnifying glass in order to see the details better. Now, I have perfect 20/20 vision...so for me to have to resort to using a magnifying glass should tell all of you reading my review just how small the images were.I would have given this book 5 stars if it weren't for the super small images.

This is a good book for western masseuse. The clarity of writing, technique and photos are great! However, having studied ancient massage techniques from Kalaripayatthu masters in India, this is NOT traditional massage techniques taught in India.Having said that, this book is meant for westerners so tones down the tradition.Overall, good book.

Fantastic read helps understand Ayuredic massage

Most comprehense book on Ayurvedic massage I have found until now. Not top quality, but certainly OK.Should have been a little cheaper though (- 1 star)
