Great Beginner Drone
The media could not be loaded. I purchased this for my 11 year old son. Having read many reviews on Amazon and watched a similar amount of reviews on YouTube it seemed to be a good choice for someone starting out in the drone world. The drone arrives in a fairly small cardboard box held firmly in place by another piece of card which is custom moulded to hold the drone fully assembled perfectly. It arrives with three batteries and a multi charger. The charger will only charge one battery at a time, the light sequence the charger uses is as follows:Light green - waiting to be chargedFlashing dark green- chargingDark green- fully chargedEach battery lasts about 10-13 minutes depending on flying conditions. The more windy it is the shorter the battery lasts. We have flown it using the Tello app on iOS, there are more advanced apps available on the android system. The Tello app for iOS is perfectly useable, you can adjust the quality of images taken or the bitrate of the video stream from the device, you can also change the speed from slow to fast or limit the height the drone will fly at, between 2 and 30m. When in fast mode the drone will fly at about 17mph so make sure you have plenty of room. When launched the Tello hovers around 1 meter off of the floor and maintains its position perfectly, only moving around slightly if it can’t view the floor properly with its downward facing optical flow sensor. The Tello flies really well and can easily get out past 100 meters when paired with the Xiaomi M2 wifi repeater. There is no memory on the drone so any pictures and video are recorded directly on your phone or tablet. The repeater helps with the video quality, reducing dropped frames etc… The quality of the videos are only 720p but are perfectly useable, if you are only spending this much on your drone you shouldn’t need to worry about video quality, if you need to make high quality videos invest a little more money. The DJI mavic mini takes great videos but costs 4 times as much as the Tello. The device only weighs 80 grams and doesn’t like being flown in even the slightest breeze so make sure you only fly it indoors on windy days, it will easily get carried off with much more than a 5mph wind.

Tiny and powerful, with a good camera (but not for absolute beginners)
Even knowing the Tello was rather small, it's quite a surprise when you open the box. It's very small for a drone, almost looking like a toy, but make no mistake - that's quite a serious drone.App and controls are quite intuitive, and a little bit less so the connection procedure. Once everything is set, you're good to go - no calibration needed. That would have been a nice feature though, as the positioning system doesn't work very well indoors, and without calibratable trims, it will drift very often.Outdoors, the positioning system is flawless, and even on strong wind it allows the drone to fly very stably. If the wind isn't too bad, you can reach 30m high comfortably. However, if it loses the positioning lock (no GPS), it may drift away quite fast at that altitude. Most of its pre-programmed tricks require a standstill atmosphere, and not always did it land immediately when connection was lost, so if the wind is strong in these situations, arrivederci Tello!Great value for money, but definitely not for beginners.

Great for beginners to learn flying drones.
Nice drone for beginners, quite easy to fly , there is some pre-programmed tricks and flips , goes out of range after 10m high but still good fun although it’s not wind proof. Recommend buying lots of propellers or a special guard cage add on as they brake when you hit obstacles even with supplied bumper guards. Good fun for a small price.

Indoor only
I actually returned this item.I know you shouldn't expect much from a drone for this sort of price, but it was practically unusable outside. I tried it in the garden, with only the most gentle of breezes, and this thing was almost uncontrollable. The camera is fine, but more of a gimmick in reality. However, if you only intend to fly this drone indoors, then I would actually recommend it, especially for someone wanting to dip their toes into drones. It is supplied with a nice battery charger and extra batteries, which is fairly good for the price.Don't let he DJI brand name fool you into thinking this is even close to being in the same league as the rest of the DJI product catalogue. It is not!Flying outside - I do not recommend this droneFlying Inside - I would recommend for a first drone if you want to see if it's for you without the large expenditure of a bigger drone.
