My first projector -- Worth the Money
I am reviewing the Optoma GT750E, HD (720p), 3000 ANSI Lumens, 3D-Gaming Projector woch I purchased on Amazon over 9 months ago. Since I am a newbie to projectors, I wanted to wait until I had lots of experience with this projector before I made comments.I based my buying decision on the following factors:- I wanted a portable projector. I make a number of presentations every year and don't want to rely on my host for a projector- Because I find myself in a variety of environments I determined I needed: -- The brightest projector I could get in this price range -- A short throw making it easier to present in small conference rooms -- Internal speakers would be nice but not required- Since this was a large investment for me, I wanted something that could display a PowerPoint presentation, show videos and movies and hook up to our Nintendo Wii (knowing it wouldn't be top of the line in any category, but at least decent)My experience after 9 months using 5 times a week:- Brightness: The brightness is great. I have not had any problem making presentations in lighted rooms. The color in movies "washes out" some in rooms with ambient lighting from the windows, so I do try to darken the room some when showing videos or movies. Viewers still have sufficient light to take notes. The one thing I didn't think about was that some environments don't have white walls or projection screens. I have been able to make quality presentations and had goods results with videos on dark olive colored walls. So a real plus there.- Short Throw: Can be a wonder or a curse. The short throw is great for conference rooms and presentations. Not so great for in home viewing of movies. I set my projector up in the middle of the room about five to six feet from the wall and get approx 8'x5' projection. IMAX movies are awesome at that size. I would prefer not to have to run my cords across the floor of the room, but that's a compromise I needed to make in order to meet my other requirements. As other reviewers have noted, this is not the #1 projector for home movie theaters due the the short throw issue. For presentations on the road though, it's fantastic!- Speakers: are OK, but believe it or not they are too loud for small rooms. I use a set of powered computer speakers instead. The sound quality is somewhat lacking for movies, but should be ok for gamers.- Gaming: AWESOME!!! I didn't get this as a gaming projector, but I do use it for that. My son (14) and I play on the Wii quite a bit now that we have this capability. It's really wonderful to play Mario Kart with four players. Everyone can see a section of screen the size of a regular TV! It was worth the money just for the gamimg aspect as far as I am concerned.- Other thoughts: Love the backpack it comes with. I can get the projector, cables and small computer speaker in the pack. I have packed it around and it has held up with no mechanical issues. The bulb is going on 1000 hours with no problems. It has all the interfaces you could want, which makes it easy to switch uses.My Rating: 5 Stars. I purchased this projector with specific requirements in mind, and I have found it exceeds my expectations in all categories. So I give it five stars. It will not be the best in any single category (although it would be near the top for gamers), but it is a great all around multipurpose projector

Great for movies, tv, and games!
I purchased this projector because I was in the market for something that would look great on the massive blank wall in my room without breaking the bank, and I was looking to replace the Optoma HD 20 that I had purchased in refurbished condition that stopped working. So far everything is going extremely well.* Setup: I'm projecting straight onto an off-white wall in a room with fluorescent lighting and large windows that receive a lot of daylight. Even with the bright conditions this projector works extremely well and while it is obviously not as bright as a TV (though it can be when the lights are off and the blinds are closed) it is still much brighter than the Optoma HD20 I had, both because of lumens and because it is a short throw projector.* Sound: The internal speaker is good enough to hold its own. The only reason I'm not using it is because I already have a surround sound system setup and have no need for it. But during the first few days of getting everything set up I was using the projector's speaker and can say it's loud enough and of decent quality. In fact, if I have any complaint, it would be that the lowest volume level is too high.* Video: You have to understand that for the price you will sacrifice some clarity, though in my opinion it's not a whole lot and the picture still looks great enough to have made the purchase worth it. I use this projector on a daily basis for either watching TV, a movie, or playing a game. It performs well in each one of the categories and even though I haven't had a chance to try the 3-D yet, I'm happy to know that the option is there should I ever choose to. I'd say that the HD20 had a bit more clarity but that advantage was undermined by the less bright picture it put out. If given the option to make the purchase again knowing what I know now, I would choose this projector over the HD 20.* Placement: Keep in mind that because the projector is short throw, it doesn't need to be very far from the screen to make a giant picture. I have my projector placed on the bottom portion of my coffee table about 5 feet away from the wall and the image is a little over 100". I originally thought I could place it in the back of the room where I had my HD 20 but I realized this was impossible given the size of the picture.Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with the purchase and look forward to a lot more movies, games, and TV in what has become my own personal movie theater.
