Revisiting the Corruption of the New Testament: Manuscript, Patristic, and Apocryphal Evidence (Text and Canon of the New Testament)

A Near Perfect Refutation of Ehrman
Wow. What a great group of essays! Usually I read rather quickly, but this book really made me slow down and think. The main point of this book is to refute Ehrman's thesis that the Bible is inaccurate and dramatically changed from it's original form. It really shows how Ehrman allows his presuppositions to cloud his judgment of the evidence, and thus he focuses his attacks on orthodoxy as opposed to heresies (there is often an equal or greater chance of unorthodox corruption).Other than the first essay, which is written by Dan Wallace himself, the essays are all written by former students of Wallace. The essays are:Lost in Transmission: How Badly Did the Scribes Corrupt the New Testament Text? The Least Orthodox Reading Is To Be Preferred: A New Canon for New Testament Textual Criticism? The Legacy Of A Letter: Sabellianism or Scribal Blunder in John 1.1c?Patristic Theology And Recension In Matthew 24:36: An Evaluation of Ehrman's Text-Critical Methodology (Hands Down the Best Essay)Tracking Thomas: A Text-Critical Look at the Transmission of the Gospel of ThomasJesus As Theos: Textual ExaminationAll of these essays were informative and refreshingly easy to read. I found the examination of the evidence extremely fascinating and intriguing, and I could not put this book down. The information contained in this book was certainly heavy, and this book might not be for everyone, but overall it was worth every minute of my time. Unfortunately, the heavy content will probably be over the heads of a great deal of Bart Ehrman's readers - which means that while this is a fantastic and near perfect refutation, most who believe that the Bible is inaccurate will not be able to understand why it is accurate. If you've read (or believed) Ehrman, buy this book!!!

Very well written and helpful volume
I really enjoyed this book, especially chapter 1. All of the chapters together, however, really compiled to show how Bart Ehrman’s methodology is faulty in many cases.Even William Lane Craig said Bart Ehrman can be called “good Bart” and “Bad Bart” depending on how he uses his scholarship. After reading a few books on textual criticism, and after I have done my own digging, I would say Daniel B. Wallace made a fine volume showing us the reliability of the NT, and it’s importance. I thank God for him and the other scholars who wrote their respective essay’s.I’d recommend this book to anyone looking to dive deeper into “textual criticism”.

Corrupted New Testament?
Great book. Extremely interesting, exploring the so called corruption of the New Testament. I often wondered would God give a New Testament corrupted over the centuries to explain to us about His Son. Answer no.I appreciate Daniel Wallace's work in editing all this information. Valuable for those wishing start to understand textural criticism and to get to the truth of the New Testament.

God's Word - Many manuscripts and powerful reliably
The 6 chapters in this volume defend the inspiration of the NT text in a scholarly yet easy to understand way. Some modern scholars with skeptical presuppositions have attacked the NT by focusing on issues with ultra-skeptical eyes. It's well known to apologists that there are over 5000 NT Greek manuscripts (no other ancient document comes close to this amount- not Plato's or Aristotle's work, etc.); since this is the case, it makes it fairly simple to discover the original text by comparing and contrasting the numerous Greek texts. If one stands on the presupposition that God oversees His Word and has given men rational tools to analyze texts, one can posit an excellent case for the reliability of the NT.The discussion on the Book of Thomas was worth the price of the book. This is a modern and powerful presentation of an apologetic for the truth of the Bible.Ehrman and other hyper-critical scholars have their guiding presuppositions, as do Bible believers. BB presuppositions help guide one into a coherent world and life view, hyper-critical world and life views are devoid of a way to bring about rational coherency.I'll go with God's word and reason and I'll ponder, but scrutinize works that rest on hyper-critical assumptions. For a good recent apologetic book see: Truth, Knowledge and the Reason for God: The Defense of the Rational Assurance of Christianity And Defending Inerrancy: Affirming the Accuracy of Scripture for a New Generation

Very helpful
This is a clear, careful, readable approach to the topic, and it is one that does not get a lot of time in the media generally. I strongly recommend it.

More than worth the price of this resource!
This resource should be consulted concerning textual criticism. His arguments are soundly based, and are greatly appreciated in the light of those like Ehrman who seek to devalue and remove the supernatural (special revelation) from the Bible. A refreshing read that provides sound insight, study, and knowledge from one of the greatest minds currently in the field of criticism.

Not 30,000 Errors
Daniel B. Wallace's Revisiting of the Corruption of the New Testament is a must for those seeking the truth about the transmission of the Scriptures. Certain writing place doubt in the minds of people by saying there are 30,000 plus errors in the New Testament. Wallace shows how this is misleading. Example: there are about 5,800 New Testament Greek MS..Other translations about 20,000 - . If there is one word incorrect in any of these it would be counted as 25,800 errors. Wallace is one of the leading Greek scholars in the U.S. and some say in the top five in the world..

Excellent collections of essays on the New Testament
Excellent work of conservative scholarship on the New Testament. It exposes the bias in liberal scholarship which accepts the least orthodox readings more on assumptions that what is actually in the texts.

DERRUBOU PRECONCEITOS
