Because my new Windows 10 laptop does not have a CD DVD drive, I use this device to transfer files from another computer to the new one. Also, I had some old files stored on CD rom's that I wanted to move. After reading other reviews, I downloaded VLC media player ahead of time. When connecting the Haiway device, I initially had problems with my new computer recognizing the external drive. I went into devices, I can't remember the exact path, and saw that Window 10 needed to download additional drivers for the Haiway device to work properly. Windows 10 did this for me and since then it has been smooth sailing. If this changes, I will update this review. So far, though, this device has performed very well.

I absolutely adore this USB External DVD and CD drive! The drive works with my MacBook Air perfectly. During startup of the drive, you just need to press the ejection button and simply insert a CD/DVD and wait for your macbook to read the disk. Then, a CD icon should pop up on your desktop. If you're trying to sync CDs with iTunes, that is an even easier process! iTunes should automatically turn on and ask if you'd like to sync the CD. Once you've completed your usage of the disc, you click on the disc icon, go to "File" in the main menu on the top of the macbook, and scroll down to "eject disc". I considered this purchase a bargain, and I highly recommend. The outer packing is also excellent.

So, this doesn't work with windows 10. You have to download an audio program. It is pretty easy to do, unless you have extra content DVDs. Then you need to make sure you have software that will work and I found it to be more of a pain, but not insurmountable. Overall it is fine and works. Just may take a few extra steps.

I have an old PC in which the DVD drive doesn't work anymore, and I needed something to get my multifunction printer drivers off of it because I couldn't find it online. Plus I have old games on DVD I would like to play. This seemed to be a good product for the price and I really like the geometric design on the top. It's really quiet when plugging it in doesn't vibrate or make any weird noise, and just started right up USB plug and play. Seems to be constructed really well and I'm sure I will get a lot of use out of it.

Started to use one time and it stopped working midway through my movie. It wouldn't even open, and my DVD was stuck inside until I found a back up pin hole to open it (that was not mentioned in the instructions). The computer barely reads that there is something connected, even when troubleshooting instructions were followed (as best as I could since it didn't show up as the name it said it would because it was only half reading). It is too late for a refund and now I am suck with it. Big waste of money. =(

It wasn't at all what I expected. I wanted something to play a dvd on that hooked up to my computer amd found out that it's just a writer!! Do you think I am angry? Heavens no!! I just been making cd's saving pics and all that good stuff. If I keep making mistakes like this i will eventually end up with what I need and not what I want. I am happy about this mistaken purchase. Easy to use, simple and i am having fun with it!!

Does exactly what a built in drive does plays and burns CDs and DVDs not much else to be said except the design textured on top is nice. Would recommend for rom dumping old games and playing ps2 games on your PC using an emulator as that's what I've been doing. But also have tested it with things like: booting into an os disc, backups, and watching old movies on DVDs and has worked fine. Also can comfirm it's detected by BIOS and Linux just fine.
