Does exactly what it says on the packaging
The perfect addition to add super fast cache to my NAS.Simple to instal the NVME drives with sliding catches instead of the fiddly little screws you normally find,The inclusion of thermal pads is a nice touch as you can be sure of giving the drives the best possible cooling for this application. The drives (2 x 240GB) were immediately recognised when the NAS was powered on and booted into the OS. Set up the drives as Raid 1 read & write cache for the single pool. I was able to repurpose the two 2.5 SSD's that were previously my cache drives and use Qtier with them.I now have the benefit of both Qtier and cache.

Easy to install and works perfectly.
Been using it in my QNAP TS253D for months and no issues. Consistent and reliable.

Improved boot times but not much else and fan noisy
I bought this and fitted it to my TS-251D along with 2x Crucial P5s and then installed QTS on the drives rather than using it for qtier or ssd cache. In this way the system starts far quicker and the noise from the mechanical drives is vastly reduced since QTS doesn't write its OS data to them. You would think this is a win but the problem is the QM2 heatsink fan is quite noisy and there is no way to "tune" it. My NAS is used solely for Plex (max 2 users, no transcoding) and the QM2 fan spins at around 3700 rpm about 80% of the time despite this relatively sedate workload. Frankly is it annoying to listen to, even more so considering the NVMe aren't over heating - qnap must have a strange fan profile set for the QM2! The only way to reduce the QM2 fan speed seems to be to manually set the system (aka the NAS main) fan at a specific speed (i use 30-40%) which sucks more air through the unit and eventually the QM2 fan drops to around 1600rpm (system fan around 1700rpm). At this point the noise from the NAS is just about bearable.EDIT:After several months of using this and growing tired with the fan noise (albeit reduced) i actually removed the QM2 and moved everything back onto the 3.5" drives. I had plans to sell the QM2 but upon removing it i noticed that the qnap thermal pads weren't fully touching the chips of my Crucial P5s (the chips are different heights on the P5s) so i ordered "Gelid Solutions GP-Ultimate - Thermal Pad 120x20x1.5mm" and replaced the pads as the Gelid ones are a far higher spec for conducting heat and half a mm thicker (15W/mK conductivity!). I then put the QM2 back in the TS251 and set it up as a 1TB SSD cache.Vast improvement!I have now set the system fan back to automatic - while streaming plex the 2 HDDs are sitting at 47 degrees, the system fan is about 1200rpm and more importantly the SSDs are sitting at 41-42 degrees with the QM2 fan rarely kicking in. This has been such an improvement I can actually sleep and work next to the nas now.So in conclusion the upshot is the qnap thermal pads aren't the best, particularly in a tight enclosure like the 251. For the sake of a tenner order some better ones like the Gelid (or thermalright) and save yourself some annoyance. I may at some point use the SSDs solely for the Operating System and Docker again (i have Radarr and Sonarr running) but the SSD Caches provides performance not far off this so i'll likely not bother.

Read Only mode SSD cache adds risk to data integrity / recovery of your data
I have been using this card in my QNAP TS-453Be for about 2 year+ with no issue. Since QTS 5.0 I have been seeing problems:1) QTS 5.0 is unable to read properly the Serial Number of my NVME drives and warns they both have the same serial number2) The SSD cache is configured in Read Only, one of the NVME has dropped out to the RAID1 configuration (unable to recover)3) The last remaining NVME may have got corrupt and prevents the QNAP NAS from booting up QTS so no more NAS4) Remove the QM2-2P-244A (Its only supposed to be a Read-Only Cache), boot the NAS with the HDD array storage pool. No you can't, the storage pool is expecting the SSD cache and is unable to mount the storage pools. So the NAS has 4 drives and setup as RAID5 for redundancy to protect for data loss. Only adding this product as a SSD cache (RO) makes your data volatile as the setup is now dependant on each other, and neither has any redundancy. Conclusion:If QNAP really makes this product behave like an independent SSD Read-only cache, ie. if you remove it from the NAS and it still operates without it, then it will be an okay product. As it stands, its advantages of potential speed up is totally out flanked by its risk to your data stored in the redundancy protected RAID5 disk array due to the dependancy coupling to the SSD cache (if used that way).Tip: Backup your data before the SSD cache gets corrupt and you lose everything!
