Great alternative to a $5 glue gun, if you intend to use it constantly.
Great applicator for high-temp Hot-Melt-Adhesives. This is the industrial-grade equivalent to household Hot-Glue you'd find at a crafting supply store.PRO:-works great with Quadrack sticks, which have extra torque for deploying large amounts of HMA.-many different 3M adhesives available for different applications, speak with 3M to get the right one!-Quadrack conversion can be removed.-Fully disassemblable, for cleaning, maintenance, or repairs.-Replacement nozzles for different spreads of HMA during use.-Glass-Reinforced-Nylon body is resistant to heat, and while it does get warm during use, gloves are not strictly necessary. Always use safety equipment when working with tools, however.-Quadrack adhesives are sold by the pound, typically, and are not especially expensive. If you need small amounts, you'll pay a price premium accordingly. but for industrial purposes, you'll be ordering a pallet of 3M HMA at a time, not a pound or two.CON:-temperature is not adjustable. This tool is specifically for High-Temp HMAs from 3M.-Quadrack is a proprietary and patented technology from 3M, so you must use 3M adhesives with this product.-Cord is not removable without disassembly of tool.-Price. This isn't a crafter's glue gun. This isn't a cheap tool you use a few times a year for holiday decorating. This is a tool designed to be used almost constantly with minimal downtime. it doesn't have a duty cycle. It stays hot perpetually from what I've experienced.-the manual's explanation of "how to cool down tool" was absolutely hilarious to me: 3M suggests you unplug the unit, and then feed a single full stick of Quadrack adhesive through the tool, and when the stick has been fully ejected, the tool will be cool. While this is true, and absolutely how it would be done in a factory, it's fairly wasteful. BUT if you need to cool the tool down in a hurry, That's how you do it! (or just wait like a normal person)

Doesn't feed a 3M gluestick properly
I bought this glue gun to feed 3M Quadrack glue sticks. The feed mechanism only operates intermittently, failing to engage and leaving me pushing the sticks in with my left hand while holding the gun in my right. I'm looking to buy a cheap import to see if they will do better. It's tough if you want to use the 3M adhesives (good stuff), but the "correct" gun is a piece of junk.

5 for just being a joy to use 1 extra for a rare quality in ...
6 stars!5 for just being a joy to use 1 extra for a rare quality in the world, repairability!I had a decent gun for ~15 years that I got at a craft store. still have it but the control and the volume that this gun puts out is just amazing I do 10 times as much with it. I used to think I could fix everything now I really can!:) 3M I love their stuffNote: you can use either the quad glue sticks or the 2" / 5/8" sticks with this if you just take the quad part off. I have used it both ways. Sometimes certain glues are only available or cheaper in one format.

Great contractor glue gun for cabinet/countertop installers
Works great for high-temp industrial adhesive - which is what you need to attach countertops to base cabinets.
