Palatinose is quality. This brand is questionable.
Review of this brand:I found this brand because I used to purchase Now Foods version of palatinose/isomaltulose called "Carbo Endurance", and it became discontinued (confirmed by emailing Now Foods). At a loss, I e-mailed BENEO, the inventors of palatinose, and they pointed me to this brand. I ordered two tubs, and both tubs had absolutely no plastic around the lid or paper over the opening. This means literally anyone could have unscrewed these bottles and tampered with the ingredients. This is unacceptable, and I refuse to put that into my body. After scouring the Internet I found another brand called Prozis who sells palatinose. They are based in Portugal but ship to the US very quickly. I am using them for my palatinose since this stuff is otherwise almost impossible to find in the US. I suspect this is due to the arbitrary classification of palatinose as a "sugar" by the FDA, despite its low glycemic index. I believe BENEO is trying to get the FDA to classify it as a non-sugar, but until then, the EU and Australia seem to have a much better supply of this stuff. However, I want to distinguish my thoughts on this brand from palatinose in general, so I will leave a review of the supplement itself below.Review of palatinose in general:This stuff is very popular in triathlon/marathon/etc. circles because it provides sustained energy release while being extremely easy on the stomach to digest. However, this makes an excellent alternative to "weight gainers" you can buy that are stuffed full of maltodextrin (corn byproduct) that, while technically listed on the label as a non-sugar due to being a polysaccharide, will spike your blood sugar like crazy and can produce digestive problems. If you mix this with a quality protein powder, you can make your own weight gainer that tastes just as great (this stuff tastes like table sugar) and will keep your blood sugar low due to a very low glycemic index. DO NOT be thrown off by it saying "sugar" on the label. The FDA only differentiates sugar/non-sugar (excluding fiber) on the basis of it being a polysaccharides ("non-sugar") or monosaccharide/disaccharide ("sugar"), NOT on how it spikes your blood sugar.Because isomaltulose is a disaccharide, the FDA classifies it as a "sugar"...but this product has a GI of 32 which is the same as eating LENTILS and is around half of the glycemic index of BROWN RICE (68)!

Great substitute in baking for sugar
Great substitute in baking for sugar! About 1/2 as sweet as sugar, but otherwise bakes just the same. I just made a batch of brownies with it, and while they aren't overly sweet (I normally cut sugar in half anyway because I don't like baked good too sweet), they otherwise are normal brownies! I'm diabetic, so this stuff is terrific.I googled Isomaltulose to read about it before purchasing, and there's lots of respectable scientific articles (for example, at the NIH.gov site) discussing how it is good for diabetics. Google it! Only downside (besides it not being as sweet as real sugar) is that it is so expensive.

Defective Packaging
Good product, defective packaging.Had two shipments in a row that had clearly been opened. Not a good feel for a food product. Can no longer return because I opted for a replacement that also arrived opened.

Good product. Using it before training. Arrived with seal already opened, probably due to shipping.

Great, not glycemic, tastes like sugar
Great taste and so much less glycemic than sugar. One tip is if you're using it in baked goods or desserts like custard, cook it briefly in a small amount of liquid to dissolve, otherwise it stays gritty.
