Great replacement unit!
Got this to replace one our dog had chewed up the remote to. Simple to install, just make sure you program the remote. I thought something was wrong until I read further down on the instructions. Program was Simple and quick.

Works better than box store brands at less than half of the price
I have a few of the Hunter brand remote fan kits that I bought in bulk from an auction site that just barely work. The range on this unit is suprisingly good for the price and it functions as designed. The Hunter ones I have are constructed better, have an LCD display that shows ambiet temperature, fan speed and light output display and better button layout but the range is often limited to 2 feet or less and required VERY firm button presses to activate. This remote on the other hand, has much better range, a smaller receiver and responsive remote but I feel it lacks the heft and feel of quality construction.Admittedly, I didn't read the instructions and desoldered the speaker from the circuit board before finding out that it can be disabled from the remote. Oh well, the remote works fine with the speaker removed, only now I've voided warranty.

Best value for the money that I've found. Also I'm an electrician.
So yeah....super pleased and happy with this purchase. The receiver part that goes into your ceiling fans shroud is the right size. Tiny. It connects with minimal effort and works VERY well. The problem I've always had with these things is always the crappy remote and the even crappier remote sensor in the receiver. This one however works with an rf signal instead of the old line of sight infrared type or whatever. Not once have I pressed a remote button that the fan disnt respond to. Every single time I press a button it simply works with no problem. Radio frequency (RF) is so much better than the older styles of these things. Your local big box building supply stores want upwards of $30-$40 for these remote control units and don't work nearly as well. I spent about $14 on this one and when the time comes to install another into one of my fans i know for sure I'll be buying another one of these. It works perfectly. Always.

Works perfectly. Never glitches.
I installed this in our ceiling fan 3 years ago and it has worked perfectly ever since. It has always reacted instantly to a button press. The feel of the buttons is good. The labels are legible. It uses 2 AAA batteries, so when I eventually need to replace them (still good at 3 years), I won't have try to read the shiny embossed markings on a button battery. My ceiling fan is a Westinghouse Lighting 7234100 Comet Indoor Ceiling Fan with Light. It's low profile, has a nice dimmable light, and moves air very quietly even on high, and effectively even on low.

Good product for the price
Great remote control for the price. I have been using it for about 3 months now and everything still works as it should

Not Westinghouse and it BEEPS
First off, this remote control module is NOT made by Westinghouse, nor is it under any sort of license. This was disappointing to me because I was looking for something a little better than a straight-from-Shenzhen eBay item, even if it was just the same thing with a Westinghouse license/decal on the remote. It is a cheap, generic component, which comes in this generic-looking box.Installing it was pretty straightforward given that it is the same size as the cheap, generic remote control module that came with my expensive, name-brand ceiling fan. That's a good thing because there is no documentation at all enclosed.SURPRISINGLY, the ceiling-mounted module emits a beep when it receives a command from the remote. I would rather if it didn't do that because any small noise could disturb a sleeping baby/child/wife, but it's not too loud. The Medium-speed works well. When i put it on Low-speed however, the fan turns on TURBO for 5 seconds then clicks into a too-slow speed with a background hum that sounds like engine braking on a dump truck.I guess I'll keep it for now with hopes that it will work for a year or two.
