Microwave Activated Moist Heat King Pad (12" x 16") - Washable & Reusable - Delivers Therapeutic Relief for up to 30 Minutes

While I love this heat pad and what it does for my back, I have to say I'm not at all impressed with it's durability. One day after my return window passed, I put it in the microwave to heat it up, set the time for 2 1/2 minutes as directed, and when I pulled it out, I saw a hole had burned into it. I've never heated it longer than 2 1/2 minutes and it doesn't get used every day. This should definitely not happen. We have another size of this heat pad and we've been using it for years, so I'm not sure why this one would burn. I'm not at all happy about this. I've contacted the seller, so we'll see what happens.UPDATE: After contacting the seller, I was told they will not do anything for me because Amazon handles all returns and exchanges for items sold through them. This is a product made to be heated in a microwave, and burned when I do so. This is one aspect of online ordering I don't like; it's much easier to speak to people in person to get issues like this resolved.

I’ve been using medibeads for years. My first one lasted several years and when it burned a hole in it I figured I had gotten my use out of so I purchased a second one. That one lasted about 6 months before the directed microwave time caused a burn hole. The third one I bought made it exactly TWO days past the one month return window. Clearly outsourcing stuff to be made cheaper to increase their profit (I watch Shark tank!) has caused them to send to China for low quality manufacturing.I won’t be buying from them again.Greedy jerks.

I needed to find a replacement for my moist heat pad from The Happy Company. I wish they still made their products as it was really nice, and I purchased several for my family as well as for gifts. Unfortunately, they no longer make the large heating pads, so I searched for something that was comparable. I was unable to find something as large as the one that I currently had which covered the entire back, but this heat pad was still a good size. The other thing that I needed was something that did not have a lavender scent built into the heating pad which this did not.This heating pad is easy to use. You just pop it into the microwave for 2 to 2 1/2 minutes, and it stays hot/warm for 20 to 30 minutes. If you need to use it for longer periods of time, you just pop it back into the microwave for another minute. It has a good weight to it which also helps with the muscle aches and cramps.My previous heating pad had a removable, washable cover, but the heating pad itself was not washable. This heating pad does not have a removable cover, but it is washable by hand. You just need to make sure that the heating pad has not been used in the last 2 hours as it needs to be completely cool before you wash it. It also need to dry out for 24 hours after you wash it before you can use it again. That's important to keep in mind if you need to have the heating pad available on a regular basis.Even in our dry desert climate, the heating pad still gives off a nice moist heat. I like that, unlike my previous heating pad, the MediBeads do not give off a scent after the pad is microwaved.

I have spent about $500 on various sizes and brands of these types of microwavable heating pads. This one is by far the best. It's not the entire size of your back, which is what the picture looks like, but it would fit a decent area of your back or wherever else you need moist heat. The thing I like most about this one is that it's thick and fat, and the other big back heating pads barely have enough of the granules in them at all. They are thin and don't heat up well or last very long.I actually use this for myself, but right now I am using it for my 20-year-old cat, who gets IV fluids every evening and it's cold when it initially goes under her skin. So she lies on the mat and loves it. She starts purring as soon as she feels the heat because it makes the fluids warm under her skin in about 10 minutes, then she gets up and plays and walks around or goes into her cushy little cat house next to my spot on the couch.I am buying two more right now, because even though I have so many others, this one is made the best and the heat lasts pretty well for about 30 minutes. The heat is moist, not really wet or anything, but moist heat is great, and I put a blanket over it for my cat, but when I use it, I just lie right on it cause it's toasty hot after being in the microwave for 2 minutes and 30 seconds :) Thanks!I do have to say though, if you are looking for one strictly for your neck, the the Bed Buddy one with the handles at each end is by far the best for your neck! It's a long, snake-looking thing that heats up great and wraps around you so your neck feels amazing in just minutes.

The MediBeads Microwave Activated Moist Heat King Pad was ordered as a replacement for a smaller version. It is being used to loosen up a pulled back muscle. It is wonderful for those who are a bit older as it is easy to heat with a microwave; no boiling in water as is needed for a hydrocollator. Great for tight muscles, strains, and as a part of the heat/cooling process for injuries. Highly recommended.

I'm a user and will continue using this item for many a year, yes indeed. It comforts me while relaxing and eases my pain tremendously. As a matter of fact it is so good you forget you have pain. I highly recommend this product...

I like everything about it.

Much better than flax or rice that break down with use and can ignite in the microwave. I also use it as a cold pack.
