The Book of Dust: La Belle Sauvage Collector's Edition (Book of Dust, Volume 1)

For adult readers due to some subject matters
First I would not let a child read this book, there is a rape scene and nudity. That said it is an amazing book and it is awesome to read a prequel to the “His Dark Material” trilogy. I have already ordered the second book of Dust and the third is schedule to release in 2024 and both of those are supposed to take place after the original trilogy.

Got me into reading again. Best book ive read in a while.
Have not read consistently in a few years. Read His Dark Materials about five years ago and it remains one of my favorite series of All Time, but this may be my favorite book on its own, though it is a part of a series anyways. Loved this book so much. Story was just stupid spectacular and real and the characters were wonderful. Thank you phillip pullman

Excellent
This was an interesting but mundane and leisurely book about a boy growing up in a religious culture complete with spies and secret religious police in an alternate-England… until about Chapter 15 when it turned into a raring adventure story, complete with persistent dangers, existential threats and the need to keep moving towards their goal. I couldn't put the book down from then until I was finished with it. Against all odds, Mr. Pullman has delivered a prequel that doesn't tarnish the previous work; instead it deepens the story and the world it is set in. The illustrations in the Collector's Edition by Chris Wormell are fantastic and greatly enhanced my reading experience. I would highly recommend this book.

Did not disappoint!!!
I'm glad I read this first before reading His Dark Materials Series, as it gave me a whole deeper background knowledge about Lyra, the rumors of her destiny, her parents, and a lot of the characters you'll come across with in the trilogy. I was not at all disappointed. I was kept on the edge of my seat and hardly slept because I wanted to find out what happened next. I also fell in love with the character of Malcolm Polstead.

Stunning New Reinvention for this Instant Classic!
The Book of Dust; La Belle Sauvage Collector's Edition is a MUST buy! The new illustrations are breathtaking and they give the reader a clearer image into Philip Pullman's ever-expanding world. I appreciate all the hard work that was put to the cover as well as the new content within. A corner was bent in the delivery but not enough to harm it's 5 stars. What a great excuse to reread this instant classic!

Great addition!
This was a great addition to the story from His Dark Materials! I loved it just as much as I did the others. Learning more about Lyra, her world, and Lord Asriel, as well as meeting the new characters, was amazing! I can't wait for the other books in the Book of Dust series! This hardback book is sturdy and pretty.

Pullman Pulls It Off Again
I love everything he writes. Not disappointed! I really like that the cover is printed (no dustjacket).

Beautiful cover, arrived quickly, and an excellent story
The book is really beautiful, with a sparkly cover and lovely woodcut illustrations. But of course, more importantly, the story is an excellent addition to the previous Lyra tales, this time when she's just a baby and mystery's already swirling all around her. Philip Pullman's writing always enthralls, pulling me into another world and making me want to read more. The book arrived pretty quickly in perfect condition, so I was really happy all around.

Edição linda, porém mal acabada
A edição é linda mas cada uma das páginas parece ter um tamanho diferente e tem páginas com a tinta meio apagada. Decepcionado.

American Edition, American spellings
As with all the other books in the Lyra series I love "La Belle Sauvage", and can do nothing more than give a 5star rating, however, I find it very annoying that Amazon have failed to mention that it is an American edition with American spellings and punctuation.

Poor quality
Poor paper quality for a collector edition...
