Whether you intend to install this SSD in a desktop or laptop, this kit has everything you need to get it done, and at the time I purchased it, it was only a few dollars more than buying the bare drive. So for about five dollars extra, I got the USB enclosure and SATA cable.If you are upgrading a laptop, the USB enclosure is perfect for the old HDD. It is simple enough to slide your drive in and the case can be re-opened multiple times without issue.The SSD itself is very fast. I have purchased several of these now, the oldest of which is about a year old and still working fine.The included software is fine (Acronis). You can boot off of the Acronis disk and then clone your existing drive to the SSD. I could not figure out how to make it bring over just the partition that I wanted, so I used some other software that works better for that.For most folks, the 120GB SSD is the right size for the OS and the few apps that they actually use. In a laptop, it does create a space constraint, but in a desktop, you can install multiple drives.All in all, everything works fine in this kit, is priced right, and I recommend it. The packaging is easier to open than buying the bare drive as well.I will continue to buy bare drives if I am replacing a dead drive, but for an upgrade, I like the inclusion of the SATA cable and mounting brackets (if it's for a desktop) and the USB enclosure (if it's going in a laptop).

This product for the price and kit was GREAT. talk about a huge improvement for my parents aging computer. It was a dell that had SATA and limited memory. I think I added 3-4 years of life to her computer. it was slow to boot, slow to bring up IE, slow to do anything. I added about $20 of ram and this drive and it was FAST than the day it was shipped to her. Sure I could have reloaded it and would still likely do that some time but what a difference for little money. been using it daily for 4 months and no issue. Have used the kit for 6 other laptops and WOW they value!!!

Okay, it does exactly what it says it does but the instructions could be a LOT better! First, many hard drives (Lenovo, eg.) on laptops are screwed down and attached to a "cage" -- you must remove two TINY Phillip's head screws to remove the cage, then two screws on the cage to remove the hard drive. My Lenovo did NOT need the 2mm adapter that was included....the height for the SSD was fine for the pins connection. When you insert the CD to clone the software (I used an auxiliary plug-in drive) it will default to WINDOWS on the first menu. SCROLL UP to the top one (ENGLISH)!!! You can't even see it without scrolling up! It won't boot from the WINDOWS default because there is nothing on the SSD yet. That took me THREE hours to figure out!! It did the cloning in 12 mins. Runs VERY fast now esp. the boot-up and shut-off time.

replaced the old hhd in my laptop and this works amazing. I didn't use the cloning software on the cd because who knows if it's out of date or what not. I just downloaded a free version and BAM was done within 4 hours (gotta realize cloning a drive will take forever no matter what software or ssd you use) highly recommend

So far I have no issues with the Kingston SSDNow V300 Series. I would recommend it to anyone that wanted to upgrade, or need a new harddrive for there laptop or desktop PC.

I bought this kit to upgrade a Samsung netbook to boot faster and use less power. It works great for that; the speed of boot up is now amazing. The drive here is a 7mm, 2.5" drive that fits perfectly in ultra slim laptops. It also comes with a spacer to work in 9mm enclosures, rails to fit a desktop system, and an external USB enclosure.What I did not really expect, but was delighted to find, was that this kit lets my old drive work as an external USB device, that we can use for backup. I simply put the SSD into the laptop, and then put the original HD into this USB enclosure, and now I have a removable hard drive for backup.If we have any problems going forward, I'll update this review. For now, it's working great and the netbook is much, much faster, with a "free" external USB backup system as well. Good luck!

I got this for $100 on sale on bfads.net a few weeks ago. It is much smaller, faster, and quieter than a normal hard drive. Supposedly these solid state drives get slower with time, I will update my review if that happens.I easily installed Windows 7 on this on a desktop. I didn't use the kit/adapter

WinXPのノートPC用に買いました。特別なアプリがインストールしてある為、XPを温存しなければならない状況で探していて、当初SUM・・・のSSDを選んだのですが認識出来なくて困っていたところ、「これ」を見つけました。値段も安かったので買ったところ、即認識出来快調に走っています。当初からMLC NANDのSSDを探せば良かったのですが素人の浅はかさ、良い教訓になりました。もう１個買って、Win7を載せようかな？なんて。良い買い物をしました。人それぞれ有ると思いますが、私の場合には大当たりでした。

Buongiorno,ho acquistato due giorni fa questa SSD da 120 GB per installare il sistema operativo e vari programmi, il mio vecchio hard disk da 500 GB stava facendo dei scherzetti e controllando con vari test se ne stava andando e ho deciso di fare questo upgrade. Devo dire che il sistemo è molto più veloce, da quello che ho letto in giro esistono delle SSD migliori, ma al prezzo di 65 euro non credo che si trovi di meglio compreso con il bundle. Penso che oggi giorno la maggior parte delle persone che utilizza il PC lo fa per navigazione e pochi vari programmi, se non avete grosse esigenze e non dovete far girare programmi pesantissimi, vi trasforma il PC dal giorno alla notte. Ho installato Windows 10, non si è mai bloccato, e devo dire che paradossalmente va più veloce internet, i programmi vanno che una meraviglia, l'accensione massimo la fa in 5 secondi. Che volete di più? Se non siete così pignoli vi consiglio vivamente di acquistare questo prodotto, non credo che vi serva altro per velocizzare il sistema operativo. Soprattutto per chi ha un PC o notebook datato e ha bisogno di rivitalizzarlo senza spendere chissà quanto è la soluzione migliore! Spero di essere stato di aiuto! Buon acquisto! ;)

I bought this to upgrade my pc and was not disappointed. I use this SSD for my windows, to increase both, the boot time and performance.The read and write speeds are perfect for my gaming and movie collection. Programs start up much quicker and my overall experience is awesome.My boot speeds on my normal hdd were about 38-45 seconds from cold boot( not windows logo). They are now between 17-23 seconds, so there is a huge improvement in that sector. When it comes to shutdown, it takes a minimum of 5 seconds, which obviously isn't a big deal, but it just comes to show how much better they are.The upgrade kit was also very handy, with the cloning software being easy to use.Pros: small, easy to install, great speeds, relatively cheap and perfect for gaming.Cons: no obvious cons.Verdict: if you need a fast, reliable ssd, then look no further. This Drive is perfect in speeds and in making your pc feel brand new again. This ssd is the best size for just using it as a boot partition, making your windows faster at loading.

After speaking with a tech-savvy friend of mine about upgrading my PC's RAM he advised me that my existing RAM of 4 gig would suffice, and that simply upgrading to an SSD and a newer version of windows would make a huge difference. He was indeed correct.I was unsure at first how hard this process would be, but after some basic research I discovered how easy it was. When my new SSD arrived I quickly swapped it out to replace the existing dinosaur and then proceeded to Install Windows 8.1.The only lengthy process was the installation of Windows and all the Adobe software I required. Boot times are now less than 20 seconds and I am extremely pleased to say that Photoshop and Illustrator will open in a jiffy thanks to my new SSD.In hindsight the only thing I wish that I'd have done is purchased the Kingston SSD bundle pack from Amazon, as I wasted about £15 on sata cables and an SSD cradle from Maplin (which doesn't actually fit properly).So, all in all a great purchase. And even if you're not that technology savvy you should find little difficulty in installing this new piece of hardware into your machine.
