Q: Is the 1x minipcie (wifi) microsim slot used to add wifi capabilities to the router?

The microsim is unrelated to wifi. It's connected to the m.2 slot to allow 3g/4g modems to be used. The miniPCIe slot can be used to add a compatible wireless mini pcie.

Q: Can this handle over 1gig internet? I have 1200mbps and would not like to slow that down

Yes, With a comparable spf transceiver that supports 1.2gbps. I’ve seen full 1.2 from Comcast during initial setup. It’s not simple to test as all of its ports are gbe.

Q: can i return this item for a full refund. i purchased it in 2019? and it is turning on and off randomly

There is a one year warranty, but you should definitely go ahead and reach out to Netgate Global Support on Netgate dot com to see if they can help you debug the issue. From what you've said it would be difficult to determine if it is hardware, software, or environmental. Either way, I suggest you contact the support team for assistance!
