A very good small passive speaker for a two-channel system or for surround sound.
Small, inexpensive two-way bookshelf speakers have become an endangered species. To be sure there are many excellent bookshelf speakers priced between $250 and $500 USD (per pair) but the selection of passive speakers priced under $100 USD per pair is getting pretty sparse. I am excluding small powered loudspeakers. The Saiyin passive bookshelf speakers (Model DS6700M) perform well above their bargain price point. The in-room frequency response of the Saiyin speaker is remarkably flat from 80Hz up to 4kHz with audible (but not room shaking) bass output down to ~60Hz. Above 4kHz the frequency response of the silk tweeter rises well above the midrange level. By applying some equalization or room correction, effectively taming this rise, the Saiyin speakers can compete with speakers costing 3X times as much. For reference I am listening at 6 feet from the Saiyin speakers. The speakers are just below ear level and 6 to 16 inches from rear boundary (window). Source: Spotify Premium, WiiM Ultra (with room correction enabled), Aiyima A07 Max (stereo mode) amplifier. Typical SPL up to 74dB. I have purchased 4 pair of the Saiyin speakers (some as gifts). I break in a new pair of the Saiyin speakers by letting them play music for a week or two before I judge the quality of sound from each speaker. I estimate 40 hours of play for breaking in each new pair of the Saiyin speakers. The good: Good soundstage and imaging. Good reproduction of male and female vocals, instruments. Solid bass performance from ~60Hz, to well beyond my range of hearing. Plays right along side speakers costing thousands without embarrassing itself. A 4 ohm rated speaker, the Saiyin DS6700M pairs well with two-channel stereo Class D amplifiers including the Fosi Audio TB10D, Douk Audio A5 and Aiyima A07 Max.The limitations: Usable bass response extends only to ~60Hz, not lower. Unless you already have a subwoofer, given the low price of a pair of the Saiyin speakers the cost of adding a decent subwoofer may not be justified. Efficiency is not stated or measured, appears to be average to slightly below average. The 4 ohm impedance enables Class D amplifiers to deliver maximum power. The speakers weighs in at ~3 lbs each. The speaker cabinet walls are not especially thick or braced so there are definitely cabinet resonances that I did not find to be audible in listening. The frequency response tilts upward. This can be mitigated with the use of tone controls or equalization. If you use a WiiM music streamer or amplifier the WiiM room correction feature really helps level the response and smooth out any frequency response anomalies. You can hang the Saiyin speakers on a wall (mounting brackets and hardware are provided) but being a rear ported design the Saiyin speakers benefit from being placed some distance from the rear wall for best results. The Saiyin speakers come with spring loaded speaker wire terminals, expected at this price point. I suggest 18 gauge; bare wire or tinned leads, not larger wire. Note: The Saiyin speakers are designed for indoor use only, not for use in a damp or wet environment.Best Application: desktop, home office, den, bedroom, kitchen, workbench and dorm room. Each Saiyin speaker is limited in power handling (30 Watts) and an acoustic output of perhaps ~80dB maximum. The Saiyin speakers are not the speakers to choose as the main front or center channel speakers in a large home theater system (except as surround channel speakers). In a secondary home theater system where listening levels will be kept to below ~80dB these Saiyin speakers would definitely work.In comparison with a well known small vintage mini loudspeaker, the Realistic Minimus 7, the Saiyin DS6700M speaker sounds more natural and is non-fatiguing. Every time I have auditioned a pair of the Minimus 7 speakers in my home system my brain quickly rejects the sound as unnatural, with something critical missing from the music. In contrast, I can listen to the Saiyin DS6700M speakers for long periods without any listening fatigue. That says a lot about the potential of the Saiyin speakers. Note: The Saiyin speaker has approximately the same dimensions as the 7W, the MDF constructed version of the Minimus 7 speaker.I believe that the secret to why the Saiyin DS6700M speaker sounds so good is the 3.5 inch woofer/midrange driver. This driver covers more than 7 octaves (from 60Hz up to just above ~4kHz), before the speaker crosses over to the silk tweeter. There is no crossover in the midrange region to introduce any unwanted crossover distortion or frequency response variations in the critical midrange frequencies as with most two-way speaker designs.Pair up these Saiyin speakers with one of the WiiM music streaming devices and a stereo Class D amplifier (all sold on Amazon) to put together an excellent sounding, small two-channel system.

What a bargain!!!
Wow! Exceeded my expectations. May be the best under $100 speakers systems in the planet. Coupled these small passive monitors with the Vevor under seat car subwoofer. Driven my my old Grace Digital Bluetooth amp and you have the perfect garage/workshop sound system (shown below testing on b'fast table). Clear, clean, solidly built, with the subtle look that fits the industrial motif and just blasts the sounds!!!

good speaker for the price
I agree with the other positive reviewers. My pair of speakers sound very nice and appear to be built and finished to a high standard. I am playing mostly classical music and classic rock/pop and they get the job done nicely at reasonable volume. I think bass heavy music would probably kill these little guys at high volumes, but they try hard and move a lot of air through the ports on the back of the cabinet.

Large sound from compact size
For an inexpensive small bookshelf speaker this one sounds pretty darn good. I have a pair connected to a small class D amplifier that I can adjust the treble, midrange, and bass along with some rudimentary EQ settings and was able to get a pretty good balance through these speakers. The tweeters do have some 'roll off' meaning the soundwave is rolling around on the speaker surface instead of being directly projected and the woofer is a bit muddy but for casual listening they are fine. Just don't overdrive them which goes for any speaker.

Best Bookshelf Speaker I’ve Heard
Its the perfect size for a desktop setup, the sound quality is INCREDIBLE, with a Fossi Audio 2.1 channel 50+50+100 watt amp, and it was a really easy set up, 50$ for these!! The value is insane, and the build quality is built though. These are my second pair!

Keep bass low
The speakers sounded good once they were set up. However, when I turned the bass knob up, the speakers turned off. That happened three times. I unhooked them & have since returned them.
