Pricy but a good story
I understand why some people are raving fans of Akira. It is dynamic.Akira is about a bit creepy kid and the future of Japan rests with him.

Greatest SF comic book of all time
If you've never read AKIRA, I envy you for getting to experience it the first time. And this edition is truly the best way to experience it, in lovely squarebound hardcovers with dustcovers, all housed in a very nice box. There were some reports of damage to the box during shipping due to the heavy weight of the books but it seems like those issues have been addressed.Katushiro Otomo's masterpiece AKIRA is simply the most impressive hard sci-fi comic book ever drawn. The sheer scope and scale of the action is unbelievable. The detail in his linework is unparalleled by any artist in Japan or abroad. The action sequences that come one after the other throughout the book are incredibly paced and planned. If this book were to be filmed as a live action movie, it wouldn't be possible, not even with CGI. It's simply the biggest and most impressive action story I've ever seen.And there's character too. And humor. And humanity. And philosophy. And unimaginable violence that shows just how horrible human nature can be when it's unleashed.You might think this set is expensive but it's worth every penny. The art and story have yet to be matched in he decades since it was published. AKIRA is the finest manga ever published, and certainly amongst the finest works of sequential storytelling as well.

ファンにはいいがにわかファンにはどうかと。
子供の頃から好きだったが一冊が高額で我慢してました。今では娘もファンでハードブックのコンプリートBOXを見つけ即買い（笑）したものの読もうとしたらAll English読めん（泣）。でも娘に日本語版も買って勉強したら？と言われて日本語版も買いアキラ満喫してます。懐かしいヤンマガの表紙画や作画もみれ、おまけも付いてきたので30年来のファンとしては大満足の品物でした。でも買う前にわかりやすく英語です表記が欲しい人もいるかも？

日本語版のハードカバーがあればもっと良いけど。
洋書ということでアマゾン出品で1.8万円台で購入でき大満足です。
