Great for all types of bread- yeast and sourdough. It works well and cuts well as long as you keep the blade housing tight so it doesn’t wobble. Love the suction cups to hold it in place. Can cut loaves in 5-10 minutes instead of struggling for 30 minutes to get inconsistent slices. The only thing I’m not impressed by is the dust cover. When they say plastic it’s more like the plastic that batteries or kids toys come in. I would have paid more for a nice plastic cover that fits well so I could leave it out on my counter.

I looked for a long time for a slicer to make very thin slices of bread. I wanted to cut an average size slice in half and this worked PERFECTLY. It’s much easier than using a guide. I plan to coat the markings for slice size with food grade shellac since some mention they eventually rub off. Yet you really don’t need any markings since you turn the dial and can see by the blade location how big the slice would be. Solidly made . Very pleased with purchase

I don't know how anyone could give this a one star. I think it's the best thing since sliced breadI tested it out on an old loaf of homemade bread , which had dried out and became very crumbly.This cut through it as if it were butter. Very few crumbs we're the result.The suctioncups work almost too well, i'm afraid I'll pull them off the board.The people having trouble maybe are not turning the crank fast enough and are pushing the bread too fast.I bet absolutely no problem.

It works great. There is a trade-off in the novelty factor for counter space, but my bigger issue it isn't the easiest to clean. It's not hard either. It's just a little unwieldy and obviously can't go in the dishwasher. I'm not a huge fan of wood attached to kitchenware, and I like to know every kind of sealant or chemical that's touched it as well. That being said, the wood appears to be ok. I can slide it through on parchment to minimize contact with the board if I want. The mechanism is a little wobbly, but you can manually straighten and hold it in place while you're cranking with little effort. My biggest issue with this is the cost. Why is this so costly? Bread knives are a fraction of this price. I know it does a great job with crusty breads, but so do many knives specifically designed for bread. I think it's worth about half what it is being sold for now ($110) or just under. Otherwise, blade is sharp and suction cups are strong. I love that you can easily alter the thickness of the bread slice. If the blade is easy to sharpen (and I won't have to even try that for ages), then this could be kept for years and years.....but so could a knife.
