desertcart.com: Dr. STONE, Vol. 1: Stone World: 9781974702619: Inagaki, Riichiro, Boichi: Books Review: A 1:1 to the anime adaptation for volume 1, artwork is some of the most unique I’ve seen - As volume 1’s are typically slow and not a great example of what’s to come, this is one of the exceptions. The pacing is great and moves quickly, always keeping your interest. It’s just like the anime if you’ve seen the anime adaptation, but the artwork is amazing, some of the best shonen has to offer. I’d say it’s up there with the artwork in Black Clover, and that it blows My Hero Academia’s artwork out of the water, even though MHA’s artwork is pretty good. I follow all three of those shonen series, and this is hands down the most unique and intriguing. I’ve since purchased all 16 volumes (still waiting on 9 volumes because they’re all out of stock) and I recommend this to anyone who liked the anime, or to anyone who wants a unique and one of a kind shonen. The antagonist actually has a plausible reason for acting the way he does, and as such makes for a great moral battle between the protagonist (Senku) and the antagonist. PS: The spines are the prettiest of all the manga series I own. The covers are awesome too! PSS: If you’re looking to purchase a lot of manga at once, I highly recommend Rightstufanime. You can get every volume of Dr. Stone for $7.12 without being charged tax if you get a membership. Even without the membership, it’s only $7.64, still 0 tax unless you live in Iowa. Shipping can be expensive, so I’d suggest it for bigger purchases, the free shipping threshold is $75, which would be around 10 volumes. I bought volume 1 from desertcart to make sure I’d like it, then bought the other 15 from rightstuf for $107. Review: Good read - Son approved

Fantastic, refreshing, and a lot of fun.
( NO SPOILERS except a small part from the first chapter ) I’ve read the first three volumes, and man it has been fantastic so far. Every volume has just gotten better and better, with the 1st volume and part of the 2nd being a prologue for the rest of the series. The story is unique and refreshing. Watching these characters attempt to rebuild the world with hard work, ingenuity, and science is fun and satisfying. The art here is fantastic. The backgrounds are well detailed and really make the world feel alive. And the characters are distinct, well drawn, and expressive especially during the comedic moments. The characters are all really likable, especially Senku the main character. The only nitpicks I have are how our two main protagonists wake up in this new world. Them being conscious this whole time for thousands of years without any repercussions feels too unrealistic for me. And there are some minor pacing problems during parts of the prologue. Other than that the series has been fantastic, and I’m really looking forward to reading more and seeing where it goes.

A fun read!
Personally, this is the only manga I've genuinely ever been on the edge of my seat to read from week to week! It's got really interesting story elements and phenomenal art by Boichi. A little bummed that they went with a simple paperback instead of a sleeve or hardcover, but it's of good quality nonetheless. Definitely worth picking up and keeping up with future installments!

A weird idea with great execution that i cant help but love
Everyone gets turned to stone for 4000 years and has to rebuild afterward.....k, done. Gotta try it. And i'm glad i did The characters are reletable (though the smart one on the cover starts out insufferable), the setting is both unique and familiar, and the art is fantastic overall. The only issues i have are the petryfing effect seems random. Like every person gets stoned up, but some animals and some plants dont? Okay sure. Also the art when it starts can get iffy especially on faces. also, slight spoiler. Our 2 main characters, uniquely to them, were consious for the 3700 years...why theyre not raving mad lunatics is anyones guess Still though i can see this being absolutly fantastic, worth a try at the very least

Not bad
I was intrigued by the premise of the story of a world-altering event that turned all humans into stone, so I decided to try this manga. I liked the beginning. The story was kind of creepy and weird, and that's why I kept reading. So far this manga is scientific, but also has elements of fantasy because there's no way the human body can survive for thousands of years without eating or drinking, even if you're covered in stone made from minerals from your body. The characters were okay but haven't grown on me yet. I don't know if I will care about the characters more later, but the characters aren't like Luffy, Goku, Naruto, Ichigo, etc. from other manga. The characters need more development other than just one character is smart, one is strong, one is a woman, and one is a super strong man. I will read more and I hope to see some fantasy elements like in Full Metal Alchemist, or if I don't see fantasy elements I'd like to see more science elements. I am intrigued and am curious to see how humans will rebuild society.
