Meconopsis Cambrica Welsh Poppy. Wildflower of the British Isles. This genus contains some of the most exquisitely beautiful of all flowering plants. Not the easiest of plants to grow, they do best in moderately rich, woodland soil; moist yet with perfect drainage. However, do try them! I guarantee that when you succeed in flowering them, there will be celebrations and the neighbors will be invited in to see for themselves. Yellow flowers over attractive fern like foliage on plants that grow from 12 to 18 inches tall. The up to three inch wide flowers have yellow colored stamens that fill the center of the poppy like flowers. Plants bloom from spring into fall with best displays under cool moist conditions but adaptable. Self seeds freely in soils in open shade to part sun. Might become weedy under favorable conditions so were climates are cool and moist they should be kept in areas were they can be allowed to colonize over a wide amount of space. Will grow in a wide range of soils from rocky to good garden soil. Plant will fail to grow under hot dry conditions but once plants are established they will tolerate some drought. Special growing instructions included. Plant in Fall or very early Spring. Zones 6-9. Can be grown as an Annual in other zones. 100 count seed package.
