Can I use it with out using PC or laptop? What is the system inside cintiq ?

I purchased the 13 Companion when they fist cans to market, the price then was closer to $1700.00 retail. I still own mine, and I USE IT DAILY. I'm typing on the WACOM now, and I am running Windows 10 with the latest upgrades. The CINTIQ COMPANION1300 serves as a laptop, tablet, windows 10, and runs all my Adobe or other digital art software without a problem. The price today is amazing. WACOM is the best you can use. I have version 1 and have had no problem with the device.

I currently have to do all my drawing while sitting on my bed with my computer on my nightstand, can I still use this without a desk to set it on?

Amazon asked me to answer your question, even though I bought the Cintiq 13HD Touch, not the 22. I've never tried to do what you're suggesting, but I think it probably could be done with the 13. My son and his fiance' are professional artists and have the larger models, and I think they would be difficult use in your lap, or off their stands. Some things to keep in mind (with the 13) - the interface cable attaches to the right side of the screen, so you would want the computer off to your right. Also, the cable is only about 4 feet long, and has 3 connectors at the computer end - HDMI, USB, and its own power cable that needs to go to an outlet. A lot of the reviews I read prior to purchasing spoke of a problem in which, when the interface cable was slightly jostled it caused the thing to shut down. This happened to me once at the beginning, but since then I've moved the thing all around on the desk without any problem at all (being careful with the cable connection). You don't need to have this set up on the stand, but it's certainly not a stand-alone device - you probably would have to be careful about the cable or you could easily lose your work. All these cautions aside, I love this thing - it's an excellent tool!

quick question what software shipped with the 22hd touch. Amazon does not state it, but most other sellers say it includes about 5 software programs. ie elements, drawing software, animation software, 30 day corel painter and NIK software

The Cintiq comes with a bundled software download code on the back of the driver disc. If you go to http://download.wacom.com and register that code with your Cintiq's serial number (located on the back of your Cintiq) you'll get access to Autodesk sketchbook express, anime studio, Corel painter, and NIK software plugins for Photoshop. Pick the ones you want (or all of them ;) because you only get one chance to redeem that bundle.

Is the touch version worth the extra money?

It's mostly a personal preference issue I think. If you find in your current tablet that you use touch aspect very often and it's essential to your navigating, then it might be worth it to spend a little extra, however I can say that just the Cintiq pen is very powerful and I haven't yet thought that I would have a better time with a touch function, nor have I needed it. On the other hand, adding an extra $50 isn't really a big deal considering you're already dropping $1000 on the machine anyway, so all things considered it will probably pay off in the long run.
