Surprisingly fun
Was on the fence about buying this for our 7- year- old (his math level is quite good, which is why the multiplication- division worked fine for his age), as I thought he might find it too nerdy & more like homework than a game.... but much to my surprise, it has provided hours of board game fun nights for our family. His review of the game has been "it's so fun, and helps me practice my math skills." It's such a simple concept, but the added giggles provided by picking cards at random and getting all the wrong numbers, really works to make this game loads of fun!

Multiplication and Division
My little nephew who's in 3rd grade, loves this game!!! He's able to learn while playing and visit other relatives and play with them. If you are looking for something to focus on learning and fun, this is the game for 2nd, 3rd graders and up.

Fun, but can be difficult to use
I bought this for my middle school classroom. My students do enjoy it. It really makes them think of the many different multiplication combinations that can be made to find the correct answer. The multiplication facts are more than 1-12, which may cause some difficulty for students. I'm thinking of pulling the larger facts out to allow the students to practice more with facts 1-12. Pros: Gets students interested in practicing their multiplication/division skills. The Hard board and trays are good quality, nice and thick. Cons: The cardboard triangle facts are thin and small, and can be hard to handle and easy to tear.

a trifecta of fun
This is a great game for working on math skills - fun enough that a kid doesn't care they are doing math. After just a few games my 3rd grade daughter was busting out some seriously high multiples. Granted the highest number you can play is 100, and it's all two number multiplication and division, but it beats doing flash cards and I think it does a great job of making math fun and showing the relationship between multiplication and division. The game board and pieces are as good as most board games, and most individual games take around 10 minutes to play. We did play one last night that I thought would never end, though.

Good game but cheap cardboard
Great game but the cardboard stock is SO thin. The paper/cardboard part feels so flimsy I don’t know how long these paper numbers will last! Plastic parts are sturdy.

From a teacher
The Trifacta games are some of the absolute best tools for getting students to spot fact families. I highly recommend the addition/subtraction one as well as the multiplication/division one. Paired with Adsumudi, these are great learning fun for family and classroom settings.

Colours- bright green & purple, trendy & inviting. Guide age 8+ though ability is individual. Our set is for home use but this would withstand classroom & group community use. Design is gender & age neutral, ideal for mature students or older SEN pupils. Improve 'Fact Family' knowledge & understanding, which is part of the national curriculum. " ...the group of 4 math facts produced by the relationships between the 3 numbers in a fact triangle....". For example: 3 x 4 = 12 4 x 3 =12 12÷ 3 = 4 12 ÷ 4 = 3 BOX: well made thick laminated card, safe storage which lasts. Depth 6 cm, Sides 35 cm. CENTRE BOARD: sturdy plastic with laminated decal upper surface & non slip foam patch underneath. Sides 25 cm. TRAYS X 4: purple sturdy plastic, triangular prism shape, sloping with lower edge to retain cards. Height just over 3 cm, Width at base just over 3.5 cm, Length just over 3.5 cm. tri-FACTa CARDS X 100: laminated, white with purple numbers upper side, logo & colours on reverse. Sides 5 cm. We keep ours safe inside a small zip-lock bag. These fit into the centre gap within the clear moulded plastic insert. INFORMATION SHEET: Learning resources: English, Spanish, French & Dutch instructions & ideas. Taken from the information sheet... " Object of the game: Be the first player to play all your cards and call out "tri-FACTa!" "SET UP: 1.....Arrange the cards face down around the board. 2. Each player takes a tray, chooses 6 cards and places the cards in the tray. Hint:...numerical order... might make game play easier. 3. Make sure all players understand the relationships between the numbers in a fact triangle...." Basic understanding of number relations, with reverse times & division is important to enjoy & understand game play. Without a foundation knowledge, this game could prove counter productive. Through playing, number experiences will be reinforced, then increased, so improving confidence & thinking ability. We found this a positive addition to our resource cupboard. Confidence has grown with quicker thinking skills, better understanding of the Fact Families & times tables. From the information sheet... " To Start: The player who can make a true fact triangle with three cards goes first. If more than one player....player with the largest product begins the game.... place new cards on top of existing cards on the boards... turn the board to face the next player! " " To play: 1. To take a turn, you must play 2 or 3 ...cards to create a true fact triangle...multiplication and division the numbers on the triangle show both relationships! 2.... cannot take a turn, choose 1 card from the pile and add it to your tray... can take a turn now, go ahead! If not, keep the card...play continues. 3....incorrect fact triangle, take your cards back...next player's turn. 4. WILD CARDS: ... play it as any number up to 100. Say the value of the card...when you play it...value of that card doesn't change. 5. To win...first player to play all your cards and call out " tri-FACTa! " NOTE: ...all cards are gone from the centre pile and a winner has not been declared, the player who has the fewest cards in... tray wins " We started with only lower, single number values, gradually increasing difficulty; this game is easily adapted to the individual. Initially we used counters to match up with the cards. This gave visual reinforcement, increasing physical understanding of written number connections. Written numbers alone can seem surreal, physically handling objects made them real. We made our own cards, increasing possibilities for whole tables. Superb game for the entire family, which also gives surreptitious table practice without the word... 'tables!".
