Samsonite Silhouette Sphere 2 Softside 25 Inch Spinner (One Size, Ruby Red)

I purchased the first generation Silhouette Sphere in April 2015 in the 21" and 29" sizes and love them. You can spin these things in circles and they won't tip! Try doing that with any other luggage. There were a few things that could be improved upon, which they did in the Silhouette Sphere 2, but the quality suffered terribly. I thought the Silhouette Sphere 2 was THE perfect suitcase, until I took it on a few trips. The first trip, one of the zippers fell off. It happens, so although it was disappointing, I just brushed it off. The second trip was the deal breaker. It got a rip along one of the outer seams and the fabric actually tore. I have never had that happen with any other suitcase. Some of the fabric may have been damaged on my previous suitcases, but it never went all the way through the fabric. This in addition to the fact that the wheels are already breaking down. The rubber is separating from the wheel and the plastic has deep gouges. I have posted pictures from the first generation Silhouette Sphere for comparison. The wheel that is silver colored in the middle is the Sphere 2, used for 2-3 trips and the all black wheel is from the Sphere 1 that I have had for 9 months and have used for at least 6 trips.Over the years I have owned many sets of suitcases, including American Airlines branded Olympia which I had for a dozen years, Travelpro Luggage WalkAbout LITE 4 26-Inch Expandable Rollaboard Suiter, Black, One Size for 3 years and counting, in 2011 I purchased Ricardo Beverly Hills Luggage Sausalito Superlite Freewheelers 24-inch Expandable Upright, Pomegranate, 24 X 16 X 9 and I gave the set to a friend in mid 2015 and they are still going strong. In April 2015 I moved onto Samsonite Luggage Silhouette Sphere Expandable 29 Inch Spinner, Black, One Size. All of these suitcases have performed much better than the Sphere 2. I had this suitcase for 1 1/2 months and it is on it's way back. I cannot recommend the Silhouette Sphere 2, but still do highly recommend the original, first generation Samsonite Luggage Silhouette Sphere Expandable 29 Inch Spinner, Black, One Size.

I used this bag for my 2 week trip to Morocco. It was perfect, fit all of my things well, was very durable, the 4 wheels were a godsend with all the walking around I ended up doing with it, and despite the many planes, trains, buses, and hotels, it still looks pretty much like new. Very pleased with my purchase, oh, and the shade of blue is easier to pick out of the luggage carousel than most bags I've owned, always a plus.

The Samsonite Silhouette Sphere Softside 25 Inch Spinner is fairly light and very maneuverable. The wheels are sturdy. I bought it because I have the 21" version and really like it for weekend trips. But the big problem, for me, is that two of the zippers broke within the first six months. The pulls just fell off in my hand. The two front pockets are now useless. The zipper-teeth simply pull apart. I always liked Samsonite products. The company clearly has a quality control problem with this product.

Very Disappointed.1. I bought this and after only 2 trips, one of the zipper pulls fell off (many people having this issue). The pull is attached to the zipper through a small metal loop that is only partially closed that further opens over time, allowing the zipper pull to fall off and get lost. All the zippers will likely have the same fate. All they had to do was fully close the loop so the zipper pulls dont fall off. Not rocket science.2. And while they offer a 'repair shop locator' on their website, there is not a repair shop with 200 miles of Boston! Not 1. Are you kidding me?!?So I have to pay $$$ to ship a practically new suitcase to a repair facility to replace the zipper pull so I can open my suitcase.???Awful quality control and customer service.

Well made and attractive Suitcase by Samsonite. Nice arrangement of compartments to keep packed items separate, yet handy.

We've had Samsonite Silhouette suitcases before and are very happy. This one lost one of the zipper tabs the first time we used it.

These are definitely some very comfortable bags to utilize on trips, even more so with the garment cover since I personally travel with at least two blazers. I started out with a carry-on sized hard side spinner with the same wheels since they were extremely smooth and picked this up for check-in purposes. Needless to say this performs equally well. I can't speak about what it loads since everyone has a different standard and idea of what is and isn't needed however I will say it's still best to pack the heavier items closer to the bottom of the luggage due to balance and center of gravity issues. I had gotten lazy on one of my return trips and packed to fit so I caught myself having difficulty keeping the luggage upright especially with rougher surfaces like free-standing carpets and bumps in sidewalks where I was dragging the bag on one wheel sometimes if not completely lifting it to re-even it altogether. Outside of me not being prudent, this is definitely a good buy for travel in my eyes. More space without two blazers and a pair of dressier shoes!

One of the reasons I bought this suitcase was the Samsonite name and in the past their suitcases have served me well. Not so with this one. after about the second use one of the zipper tabs had pulled out of the zipper. A couple more flights and another tab was missing... another flight, yet another tab. and these were not the tabs to the front pockets or expander, the first two table to go were the ones to the main compartment. Had this been just one suitcase I would have considered it an anomaly, but we had purchased two 25 inch suitcases and two 19 inch suitcases that this is happening to all lf them. right now out of four suitcases I am missing 6 tabs. If you look at the zipper the problem is obvious; the part of the zipper that holds the tabs is open and if it is sprung even half a millimeter the tab pops right out. As you shop for suitcases keep this in mind and avoid the Samsonite brand.

I have used this suitcase about six times. Now the THIRD zipper pull has broken off. What's next, a wheel? Disappointed that Samsonite has chosen to skimp on this critical piece.

The rollers on these are awesome. They makes getting through the airport much easier since it can spin on a dime and roll any direction.

Pros:Very light.Easy to roll along on a smooth surface.Cons:Extremely thin fabric.

A good quality bag. The only real issue I have had has been with one of the zippers breaking but the bag itself is nice.

Way bigger than I was expecting but an awesome suitcase none the less

I lugged this suitcase through Manhattan in a snow storm and never had an issue. Despite the sidewalk cracks, the curbs, the salt and the snow, this suitcase kept right on...

I have been using this for a year and love it! It has been on 10 flights and still looks as nice as when I got it. Wheels are very durable.

The size is perfect because it holds enough but won't let you overpack and exceed the weight limits.

Great bag with plenty of room, and meets all airline specs for checked luggage. My wife and I both have these and used them on a multi-stop 2 month international trip earlier this...

Bought one of these at kohls about 6 months ago. The handle was evidently broken on the way home from the first trip but the airline personnel stuck it back into the case.
