Deactivates some laptop features, but the docking station itself is great.
Only two complaints:1. the laptop's (read: not the docking station's) USB ports deactivate once the computer is docked, causing problems for me since the wireless signal to the USB dongle is obstructed. (I had to use a 3rd party USB hub to bring it closer.)2. the speakers on the laptop stop working once docked. I don't have an extra set of speakers; my current set are connected to my more powerful desktop. The audio is sent through the display port to my monitor, but adjusting the volume on the monitor is a pain, as you have to select several options to get to a sub-menu for every single adjustment. It would've been nice if the laptop's speakers would just continue to work while it is docked. However, I think both of those problems are due to the laptop itself, not the docking station. So, as far as the docking station itself goes, the product is great. It's a low-profile device, with a lot of ports on the back. There are two display ports (as well as a VGA, if anyone still uses that), allowing me to have a dual monitor setup (using large monitors). There are four USB SuperSpeed (3.0) ports, one of which contains extra power, in case you want to charge a phone, tablet, or other devices. Of course it has audio-in (microphone) and audio-out (speaker) ports as well.(I'm using an HP Elitebook G1 840 [this model is also called an "Ultrabook", for some reason].)

Perfect for use case
Needed it for a small home office and it gave me the ability to use the laptop and a second screen without taking up too much room on my desk. Plug and play.

Just like new...
...except a small cut on the power cord. No marks or scratches in evidence. Works flawlessly. Paired with HP docking station for a great computer!!

Good with occasional connection issues.
Works adequately for multiple monitor usage on your laptop, sometimes putting the laptop to sleep messes up the orientation of the screens, or sometimes 1 won't connect, I don't think there's anything wrong with the 1 I have, so I would guess there is just a general connectivity issue with the design or how they interact with the laptop. Solid over all though, and not worth a serious complaint. If you need one they work. At around 20$ I paid the value was fine, and the set up is literally just plugging it in.

While the docking station appears to be marketed as new ...
While the docking station appears to be marketed as new in-box genuine HP, it came in an unlabeled box with what I assume is an off-shore unbranded power supply, which appears to be under-rated compared to the genuine HP supplies that have come with the docking stations.

Perfect!
This is what we use at my new job. It was a pain to unhook everything to bring my laptop w/dock home each night so I took a chance and ordered one of these that was a return/refurb one super cheap and it works perfect!! It makes it so easy to just unlock and pick up my laptop and go! Told my co-worker about it and she ordered one to. It works great also. 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from us both!

Display ports are broken
The display ports on the back of the docking station don't work at all. Any time I connect one of my monitors, it starts flickering on and off and I can't do anything about it. I've tried to navigate through HP's support, but no luck. I assume the thing shipped with outdated firmware, but I don't have admin privileges to fix it. You'd think the sellers would care enough about their product to ship it with more recent firmware than 2013, but they've made it abundantly clear that they don't care. Absolute waste of $100, I'm willing to bet the product isn't even "new" either. Save yourself the headache and just get yourself a splitter for the display port on your laptop.
