NIV, Personal Size Reference Bible, Large Print, Leathersoft, Tan/Brown, Red Letter, Comfort Print

Awesome product, quality binding, easy read print.

I bought this bible for my 84 year-old mother. She lives in an assisted living facility and I had it delivered to her directly. With the plethora of bibles on this site, I struggled to find one that would suit her. I wanted one with pages that were thick enough that text from the opposite side didn't bleed through. Large Print was a must, but I didn't want one of the bibles that seem to have HUGE print and seem to meant for use on an altar. As there were no reviews yet, I asked her to email me her comments which are here verbatim:"It arrived on Tuesday, as predicted, and I've been exploring its features ever since. As predicted, it is stunning beautiful. Very comfortable in the hand and definitely not too heavy for me to be hefting it. It has fine, smooth --what feels like leather ; black/orangey-tan on the front, all orangey-tan on the back. The leather is cool and soothing to the touch. There are 2 ribbon markers, one for the Old testament in black and one for the new in orange. The ends of the pages when the book is closed are gold. There is attractive stitching on the front and back.I haven't explored too much in the written part of the book except to read some in Psalms, but I can tell I'll like the NIV version very well. It's simply readable, as an everyday conversation would be and yet there hasn't been so much change that it's jarring. I'm used to the King James version and find the NIV to be so much more understandable and enjoyable. I even enjoyed reading the lists of the Israelites who returned from captivity enjoyable reading.So, thank you so much. I am 100% pleased with it. Oh, one other thing: it lays flat when opened. A small feature but one that adds to the pleasure of reading"

This Bible is everything I had hope for.

I liked the bible very much. It did not have enough information to make it a good study bible but overall it is an excellent bible.

Quality is good, translation is good. Large print is... uh... larger than their regular microscopic print. Luckily the one I got it for can read it with no problem. But why did they go from large print to super giant print with no giant print between?

love the font

I've used many bibles over the years and own some 12 different leather bound copies. I purchased this as I needed a new NIV for out and about meetings. The Bible as a whole is nice for the price and the leather like feel is pretty good.However, the font is a real problem. Zondervan has commissioned a specialised font for the NIV. It is a bolder font which was a step in the right direction, but this is where the positives of the font ends. Having dealt with lots of typography in the past twenty years I felt the designers of the font neglected to understand how people read. People do not actually read individual letters, but words as a whole. The shape of the word is important, which is why if you try to read something in all capitals it becomes difficult as the individual shape of the word is removed and the shape of every word is the same. This makes comprehension harder and slows down the reading. This is why you never find books written in all capitals. Zondervan's new "Comfort Print", makes the same mistake. They have flattened the ascenders and descenders (the part of letter that sticks up as in the letter "b" and sticks down as in "j") so much that it is not sufficiently above or below the other letters and therefore removed the distinctiveness of the individual words. The effect is that although you can read the text, it is slow going. In the end, I found this so frustrating I sent the bible back. After all, what is the point to buying a book where the typography makes it difficult to read, especially with a book such as the bible that has a lot of text.Zondervan really need to rethink this font.

I love this bible, great quality, perfect size and easy to read font.I bought tabs to go with it and they look really well together

Una Biblia preciosa, muy bonita, tiene las páginas doradas por el lateral, es de una calidad muy buena, se nota que la nueva versión internacional se entiende mucho más que la de KJV. Gracias por la estupenda Biblia, totalmente recomendable.
