Effective squirrel proof feeder
Feeder is effective at discouraging squirrels and large birds. The small birds found it easy to feed from, possibly due to the fact we have Peckish peanut feeders already. The only issue we have is filling means removing the base and feeding tube from the cage. The feeder could use a couple more ports for the birds to feed from to avoid the squabbling that goes on.

Sturdiness
I thought I had written a review, so SORRY!Anyway, great feeder, I had one similar, but my squirrels knocked the bottom off! I wanted one similar so looked on-line and the supplier had one in stock at a better price than other retailers! It arrived well packaged and all good so will be purchasing more feeders from this supplier. Great feeder as keeps rain off so doesn’t get messy and easy to clean. Thanks so much, Terri

Not satisfied
This was just delivered minutes ago and is broken, I have literally just taken it out of the box. The bottom dish was attached but the top lid was loose. On starting to put it together I saw a large split in the plastic tube. I thought it could have happened in transit as the metal lid was moving around and I could maybe just tape it as it won't be noticeable but on carefully trying to put the top on without snapping it off completely it appeared that the tube is quite tight and only seems to fit properly when the gap opened up a bit. Then I noticed that although the base was on it appears to be the same, it's pushed on completely but only with the gap from another small crack opening up a little. I suspect with very little use and even if taped up this will be broken both ends quite quickly. The metal lid and base are quite substantial (I think that adds to the problem because there is no give for the tube) but the metal wires and plastic tube are quite flimsy. Definitely not worth the money. Sending it back and ordering something less attractive but more practical which is a shame, hense the low star rating.

It's good, not perfect.
This is just about the best external cage design for obstructing squirrels but they always find a way eventually. The problem is the threaded bolt that fastens the cage to the food hopper does not turn well in the captive nut on the hopper cross bar. WD40 might help but not ideal on a bird feeder...Had this same design before, not same brand - these ones are a fair bit smaller than the old ones, that might help to keep squirrels out but I doubt it.Never underestimate the ability of a squirrel to rise to the challenge. The main thing of concern with these is that they will empty quite quickly in winter and the satisfaction of helping wildlife by endlessly refilling a small bird feeder will soon wear off.

Birds love it!
This suet ball feeder is perfect. The birds absolutely love it, that’s all that’s important to me really. As long as the birds love it, I love it. Simple to use, well made & sturdy and very easy to put in more suet balls so it’s great! Happy birds = happy me.

Worth the extra cost, and the birds love it
We bought this as a small feeder for mixed seed as the sparrows seemed to prefer that to the sunflower hearts we have in another feeder. It took a little while for the birds to adapt to it, and I was worried that it was too small at the bottom for them, but once they got used to it they took to it really well. Almost too well - we're now overrun with sparrows and they clearly love it.It's nice looking, an attractive shape with a leaf design embossed on the top cap and unobtrusive green and brown colours. It's a bit of a fuss to fill: you have to unscrew the hanging loop, take off the top cap, unscrew a nut holding the cage in place and lift off the cage before you can fill it, but all can be done very quickly and easily by hand and at least it's sturdy and secure and easy to clean. The one thing I'd change is that the base surrounding the seed tube is open wire rather than solid, so there's a lot of spillage onto the ground, though that's probably not a bad thing from a hygiene point of view. It's survived jackdaws and a very determined and ultimately disappointed squirrel, and the sparrows and various tits use it all day.It was more expensive than other feeders, but I think the extra was worth it given how sturdy and attractive it is.

Useless!
It’s not a good bird feeder, mines been out for weeks and no bird has been near it, top leaf does nor prevent rain from wetting seed. A poor buy sorry.

10 minutes later 3 of them approached in a stealth like manner complete with camouflage and back packs at the ...
Having tried numerous squirrel proof feeders I was apprehensive about getting another one to try. After putting this out in the garden the SAS of the squirrel world ( I will call him Sid to protect the innocent) approached the new feeder in anticipation of stealing the contents. After a few minutes of scratching, pulling and rocking he appeared to give up. BUT little did I know he had reinforcements in the trees, 10 minutes later 3 of them approached in a stealth like manner complete with camouflage and back packs at the ready in a SAS style raid. The first 2 created a diversion by running up the tree while the leader Sid launched himself full speed at the feeder. Then all 3 tried unsuccessfully to swing, jump, pound the feeder but to no avail and they eventually gave up. 2 weeks on and the squirrels have set up a protest camp in the trees demanding equal rights for squirrels but I have ignored the crys of hunger. I HAVE AT LAST FOUND THE BEATING OF THE SQUIRREL GANG

Peanut feeder
Nice and strong but awkward to open up to fill and clean but I dare say will wear and become easier . It’s very clunky to unscrew

Nice looking feeder but too tall
Tits and robins love coming to this feeder but anytime it rains all the food gets wet and I need to throw away the soaked seeds/nuts as they would get moldy really quickly, and it rains quite a lot here. I wish it would have an adjustable height or a slightly longer roof.

Very fiddly to dismantle to fill
In theory you need to use a screw driver to refill it and it's advised to do this every 3 days!Squirrels have been unable to access so that's good but the tits don't seem to be that impressed I think as they have to enter a cage effectively to get to the nuts. Not very user friendly.
