Finding a well made, leather cover for my sketchbooks and journals has been a challenge. I've made my own in the past but limited space means making replacements can be hard. The reviews have been instrumental in making a choice and they weren't wrong. While simple in design it serves its purpose well. Made of thick, fine grained leather it offers protection but is pliable and will weather nicely. the stitching goes all the way around and there's no gluing so you get the nice smell of leather and zero chemicals. The edging is lightly burnished especially near the internal pockets. The included unlined sketchbook/ journal is decent but importantly it's held by sliding the back cover through a piece of stitched leather versus an elastic holding the book at its spine. I use the Canson XL statement size sketchbooks and there's actually enough length and give to cover it even with the coil binding. On the inside is a card pocket and slot to put loose notes and what not's. Rather than sew in a pen/pencil holder their solution is to provide a leather and metal clip so you can attach your pen or pencil wherever suits you. There is also an included refillable, ballpoint pen. Overall, I'm impressed and am pleased with this purchase and may order another to gift.

I looked over quite a few journal covers prior to buying this one. This looked perfect on the screen and the pictures had me excited to get this in my hands. The pictures are not only accurate, but doesn't represent this to its fullest. I don't think it is even possible for pictures to truly capture how amazing this cover is. The first thing I noticed when I unpacked this was the smell of leather. It reminded me of walking into a leather store. It didn't have that big box retail store leather product smell, but genuine, handcrafted leather. This does mark and scratch very easily, so be aware of this, but I find it adds more character and personality to the cover. Mine already has several scratches, but I feel like they almost add to the rugged, beautiful look this thing already has. Everything about this reminds me of great craftsmanship and quality. This reminds me of something I would pick up from a local leather craftsman. Everything from the smell, look, and feel of this makes me not want to put it down.

This leather journal cover is beautiful! I finally purchased this after weeks of reading reviews. I wanted leather, simplicity (no snaps, velcro or embossing) a deep brown color, an extra pocket for a mini journal (as shown in the attached picture), a sturdy way to hold the notebook (over 2" wide leather strap) and of course high quality craftmanship....I got it all with this purchase! It came packaged beautifully, which makes a wonderful gift...if you're generous enough to give it away! I didn't buy this for the pen or paper, but they seem fine. I was able to fit other journals I already have into this. The included journal is 8.25" x 5.75" and a 1/2 inch thick. My journal that I put in the pocket is 7"x4" and 3/16 inches thick (in case you're wondering). I bought this for work for the numerous meetings we attend. The little journal will be used for data I need at my fingertips and the included notebook will be for regular notetaking. The leather is thick and the journal looks professional. So happy with my purchase!

It’s going to be a lovely gift to the departing coworker, with my small changes. I’m just glad I checked it before having it sent out to its intended recipient. I’m gifting this to a retiring coworker so I opened the package instead of just sending it out straight. The sealing sticker has a typo, so I folded it over and hope it won’t be so obvious. I tested the pen by attempting to write a small note to the recipient. The pen wrote only the first five words of my little note. And no further tricks of mine could get the pen to write more than 1-2 individual letters at a time; I gave up using that pen to complete my note. Trashed the pen and replaced with a better pen for my recipient.

This is a beautiful leather journal for a young man. I gave it to my grandson and he loves it

This is an absolutely gorgeous and functional notebook cover. It's saddle leather style full-grain leather, so it's got a lot of character. I oiled mine pretty heavily so it is nice and soft and supple while also laying nice and flat. It makes an absolutely amazing writing surface when opened flat. I didn't like the included notebook, so I immediately replaced that with a hardcover a5 notebook. Same with the pen-- I tossed that out and don't even use the pen holder. I read one review complaining that it is heavy-- I think that is one of the nicest perks of this great notebook cover.

Nice quality journal. Material isn’t too thick or too thin. I modified mine further too good many small notebooks for different uses. Highly recommend!

I've had journals made Venice and Florence. This one surprised me with the quality and look. I highly recommend it to anyone that wants a refillable leather journal cover that will only look better with age.
