After a large and heavy baking sheet set on top of the stove managed to push and turn the gas on for two of the eyes on the range (knobs are on top right side) without me noticing it, the gas was flowing freely for about 30-45 minutes until I finally realized the smell was not something going sour in the kitchen (and the headache as well). Had we had this (or any) alarm installed, it would have been noticed within a few short minutes as the alarm (as tested in our home) will go off quite quickly if the burner is "on" but not lit. ***NOTE*** This does require electricity (via a very long USB cord and wall plug included) and will not stay powered long on the ***backup*** battery. Not a problem in our kitchen as we have many outlets, but be aware.

I had what I suspected was an intermittent leak of sewer gas in the bathroom area and bought this as well as a hand-held "sniffer" to detect the Methane component in the gas. Sewer gas has several bad components in it such as Methane, Ammonia and Hydrogen Sulfide...all bad! Sewer Gas has a typical "rotten egg" smell, but due to a sinus surgery my sense of smell is greatly reduced. I was looking for a wall mounted monitor which would detect the Methane and also give me numbered display to gauge the relative concentration, which this one has. It also has a back-up battery for use during a power failure (4-5 hours of backup power). I've increased ventilation in the area and so far haven't had an alarm yet but did a successful test with butane from a lighter to confirm it was working correctly.So far, so good.

I bought this product because it said it was rechargeable and where I need to place it in my RV, there isn’t a plug. I figured I could remove it and charge it every few days but this does not stay charged for more than 13 hours. It has to be literally plugged in at all times or have an external battery attached, or it doesn’t work. I’m very disappointed because I purchased this based on the great reviews. I did give it three stars because it detects leaks very quickly and is quite accurate. Only if it would stay charged longer.

So this past summer I had my camper across Canada on a trip out to BC from Ontario. About halfway through our trip we pulled off at a rest stop to take a break and walked into a camper with the propane alarm going off. It is pretty scary but atleast it didnt happen in the middle of the night right? After double checking the propane supply was shut off I verified their could not be a leak anywhere and the alarm still went off. Stopped by a Canada tire got some compressed air cleaned the sensor and everything appeared to be good but not something I want to chance.This detector works absolutely wonderful for what I need it for. I have it mounted in the spot of the old rectangular detector and it barely just covered it. I wanted to test its accuracy so I turned on the propane in the camper and let gas flow from the burner. It works! At this point I know it will pick up large quantities so I went to the outside of the camper and set it by the propane water heater. I Fired up the hot water heater inside and the alarm blared! It picked up the small trace amounts before the igniter lit the propane!I am absolutely amazed at the quality and appearance of this detector. It has proven it will do the job I need it to and I can use it as a tool wirelessly when I replace or trouble shoot anything propane related on the camper with its backup battery.

I installed this on the basement to monitor any possible leak of my recently installed gas fireplace. I texted this with the oven just to make sure that it was reading gas measurement and did work as described.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  I bought this gas detector a few months ago for use in an RV. I opened it the other day and installed according to the directions. The device would not turn on. Not when I plugged into a 120V AC outlet, not when I used a 5V 2.5 A USB or left it to charge in either thinking that could be the issue. Lastly, I used the recommended 5V 1A USB port. This time the device began smoking within 10 seconds and still didn't show any signs of being powered on. From other's comments, it appears like I'm the first to have this happen and probably have a defective device. Ourjob does not list any contact information or warranty hotline so I must write this review. I hope they reach out here to deliver another device under warranty but very disappointed with the product at the moment.

Really wanted to like this, alas it does not work. Installed per the instructions and tested with butane lighter (not lit, just emitting gas, and it worked in that scenario). We have a gas stove.Several times since, while cooking, water boils over extinguishing the burner with gas flowing freely. Because the pot is usually covering the burner it is easy not to see it has gone out. Fortunately we caught it ourselves in time due to the heavy smell that one would expect should trigger this pricey alarm, but it hasn’t. We know now not to use that specific burner, and that this detector can’t be trusted.

Purchased for my brother. Once he put it up it did what supposed to do.

Easy to install. Peace of mind.
