Profoto RFi Octa Softbox (4)

I’ll keep this short because I’m seeing other reviews on Amazon that say exactly the same thing. This produces amazing light - I’m absolutely 100% happy in that department. But after just a few uses it developed three tears along the section where the velcro is sewn into place. I’m attaching one photo to this review but there are two other tears that look exactly the same. For this price I’d hope for better. I sent mine back within Amazon’s return window and I now think I’ll explore other options. I do love my Profoto lights and think they make very high quality stuff in general, it just seems like they have an engineering or QA issue with the 4’ Octa. My 3’ Octa is holding up fine.

Update: After some of this softbox's velcro material separated and tore a hole in the material I'm having to take a couple of stars off my initial review. It seems Profoto could use a bit thicker material and stronger seams.I was hesitant to purchase this four foot octa considering the reviews I'd read claiming it's extremely difficult to dismantle. I'm glad I threw caution to the wind and got it. It's easily my favorite light modifier. I LOVE the light it produces and now take it on all my shoots. For me, the secret to "easy" disassembly is to alternate the rods you pull out rather than go sequentially around the ring. My advice is to pull one rod, then pull the rod on the opposite side. If that one's stubborn, try another, but you should find one that doesn't take too much effort.

Beware of Poor Service through Profoto... I've had this unit for almost 3 months and 2 of the rods have lost the end metal units (color coded) green for this Octa. Profoto will not replace the item, they request the entire unit to be sent to their facility. They will ask $65 dollars to replace the entire set of rods. Poor service and I have bought 3 B1 units along with modifiers. I've been in the industry for may years and this is a first for really bad customer service. Makes me wonder how any other issues will be handled if they ever need service. Other companies send out a new piece to cover such a small issue... not Profoto. I can't believe this is how they treat their customers and will no longer make any purchases of Profoto equipment.

Light quality is amazing but after taking it apart and putting it together few times it started falling apart. For this price I think it should be a lot more durable.
