Ticks all the boxes - 10 years on I'm still looking for a cheaper just-as-good alternative
This is the bourbon/rye that, many years ago, first got me into American whiskey, and sharing it with others got them into it too. I've tried dozens since that great as they are don't hit the same spot. Ever looking I still buy a bottle or two of Sazerac every year and every time I'm never disappoints. It still makes the best Old Fashioneds, and the best cocktails generally, whereever it's the star. It never disappoints. I wish I could find a cheaper substitute, but in 10 years I never have and in that time most decent previously cheaper ryes have become a similar price or more, whereas Sazerac's price has stayed the same. Its not the best rye ever but at this price it's as good as, if not better, than almost every other competitive brand and way better than brands considerably more expensive. If you're looking for a memorable rye whiskey at around this price point I can't recommend Sazerac enough - especially for Sazeracs or Old Fashioneds!

Refreshing and original
I'm new to rye and this is a really nice drink straight with a bit of ice. Or if I'm feeling a bit exotic a cocktail, I say cocktail but I add a bit of orange rind and a few drops of bitters. Sazerac is a lovely refreshing drink with some great subtle flavours, one for the drinks cabinet alongside a nice bourbon.

A smooth, sweeter rye
Bought it for my husband, he loves it. He’s a rye drinker, I’m not but even I think it’s very drinkable

The best standard rye to have in your bar for cocktails ...
The best standard rye to have in your bar for cocktails (and a must for a sazerac cocktail (rye (and cognac if you choose), peychaud's bitters (and angostura if you want to go off piste), simple syrup and an absinthe rinse). If you're in London, some of the bigger liquor stores have it. As do some of the larger internet drinks companies. Every autumn, the distillery releases an antique collection which includes an 18 year sazerac rye . . . Hard to get but utterly exquisite.

Just about right
I've been instructed, Big Brother style, by Amazon to leave feedback about the packaging. Hard to think of much to say, but I'll try. It was brown, cardboard, address label was correct and nicely positioned, and the cardboard was luckily slightly bigger than the purchased object inside it. It offered more than adequeate protection and I know this because nothing was broken or damaged. If I have the choice in future I will opt for this sturdy, practical, brown cardboard arrangement - as it worked so well for this purchase. Thank you Amazon

Not sure about this
I grew up in a house named after this whisky, so having figured out that it was also a whisky based coctail too I set about buying the ingredients: Sazerac, ponchards bitters and absinthe. Not sure what I was expecting from this as a whisky. As a seasoned malt drinker, it's a very dissapointing dram, but yes I tell myself this is different, made from a different grain so accept that it's not going to taste like scotch. However, there is a very strong pungent overriding flavour that I find very overwhelming and off putting. Rather a sad outcome when you grew up writing "sazerac" in your address, was hoping for a kind of homecoming. An acquired taste if you want to drink this on its own. Not really for me.
