Bought this for an old 2TB SATA SSD I had just installed in my old laptop before the screen started to flake out. Not wanting to waste a perfectly good SSD, I put it in this enclosure. Works great, especially for the price. The fan is fairpy quiet but still keeps it from thermal throttling even when I'm using it as source or destination for video rendering for several hours. Even some very pricey external SSDs can't say that because of their lack of active cooling. The enclosure is quite sturdy and feels like it will have no problem surviving with all the other equipment in my laptop bag. Installation was easy, the thermal pads are sufficient for my needs, and the whole thing took me maybe 5 minutes to button up and start using it.

This enclosure is great. It is very high quality and solidly constructed from aluminum. Data transfer speeds are super fast and I have seen zero heat build-up due to the built-in cooling fan. I can't believe you can get this high quality piece of gear for such little money. Awesome... Get one.

Great way to use the extra drive as a portable. Does have fan noise, but not too bad. It helps to keep things cool.

I want to love this enclosure but I can’t. The noise from the fan sounds like a screeching jet engine during takeoff. I went through several of these in June of 2025 and out of the 5 I swapped out only 1 was whisper quiet with the fan on. The rest were DOA due to the fan. There was another that wasn’t too bad, but the fan is now doing the same thing on this unit that it was doing on the rejected units. I cannot recommend this enclosure and you’re best spending your money elsewhere. It’s solid construction and works, but the noise is actually unbearable. It’s solid construction; however, it’s so loud, that it drowns out a tv.

This NVMe enclosure not only keeps your drive cool with the built-in fan—it does it quietly. USB-C 3.2 speeds are fast and consistent, and install was tool-free and painless. Case feels solid, not tinny. That said, the thermal pad placement is critical—misalign it and temps spike fast. Once it’s in place though? Chef’s kiss. For backups, travel kits, or video editing: a solid performer in a slick shell.

I am so old that I used the "ARPAnet" (a precursor to the internet). I received the Fanxiang M.2.SSD enclosure today and added a 4TB 2280 crucial drive. The enclose has a very small fan to control heat problems, a heat conducting tape which is placed on both sides of the ssd drive, and a metal case to further dissipate heat. There are two very short (about 6 inch) usb cables included. One cable has usb C on both ends (for use if you have usb C sockets on your computer. The other cable has usb 3.2 on one end and usb C on the end that goes to the ssd enclosure. I plugged into my computer C port and the drive came up as drive D on my computer. I had already initialized and formatted the 4TB drive on another computer. I ran about 5 GB of files from the computer to the drive and the metal ssd enclosure was slightly warmer after the transfer than before the transfer. I checked out a couple of the transferred files and they were fine. Next I went through the same process using the other (usbc/usb 3.2) cable. The fan started but was not making any sound I could hear. There was some air flowing from enclosure. (I am mildly hearing impaired so maybe someone else could have heard the fan.) Overall, this is a very well engineered product that can easily handle the heat produced by a 4TB ssd, The design could be improved by using 1 foot cables rather than the short cables provided. I attached the enclosure to the side of my new computer using "hook&loop" tape. The instructions provided would have been adequate but they were in a tiny font that is best read using a magnifying lens. Suggestion: Increase the font size to at least 10 and include a url to your website so customers can get more information about this product and other products that you sell.

Out went the old drive, so sluggish, so slow, In came the speed—oh the data did flow! It zoomed and it zipped and it flew down the line, Files vanished from here and appeared there on time. So far so good, have tried 2 nvme drives and they run at a high speed ~300mb transfer rate. Fan is pretty quiet, quieter than the noise from my PC in fact.

No problems installing SSD drive, transferring a few files is quick, transferring a bunch of files the transfer rate seems to slow down, works well enough for my needs.
