Problem Solving Survival Guide to accompany Intermediate Accounting, Volume 1: Chapters 1 - 14

Well written, in clear prose, Marilyn Hunt's book demonstrates the important aspects of each chapter, with the complex problems worked carefully, neatly and completely. This is a book that teaches how to lay out problems, how to troubleshoot tricky multiple choice problems, and how to calculate fairly complex accounting situations in an neat and orderly manner. This is not a spurious book. I read my copy of the SURVIVAL GUIDE before the textbook, and usually do my homework with the textbook open for the questions and the SURVIVAL GUIDE open for helping me understand. If you want an A, then spend the money and buy this book. Consider buying the textbook in a digital copy (as the textbook weighs a whopping 7.4 lbs!) and this SURVIVAL GUIDE. Well worth it in every sense.

Book came in the range of predicted arrival time. The book is in good condition just like described even though used.While reading same edition textbook and having to do homework, this book helps me quite a lot when I don't understand how to complete some problems. I highly recommend this book in addition with textbook to really learn the material because intermediate accounting is more challenging than the principles. I'm not sure about that, but my accounting professor said multiple choose in this book is very helpful for those who are planning to take CPA exam. Goodluck, learning!

Found several typos and an incorrect answer for one of the problems. I tried contacting the publisher to let them know but it's impossible to find the right number to call. The publisher's website doesn't have a contact form for this type of feedback. It's a good book overall but the formatting could be improved so that the information is clearer and easier on the eyes. Also, it could use more practice problems/exercises.

Great explanation on how to solve problems, however the problems are not the same as in the book. They are similar problems. But gives detailed information on how to solve that particular kind of problem.

Didn't even use it. The real book gave me all the tools I needed. I do like the format of it, and would note that the pages are perforated so that you could remove a chapter easily to take it along on the go and study it. Obviously you would only do that if you owned it, I rented. The text book is so big and heavy you can't really transport it.

The problem solving guide is instrumental to your success if you're using the HORRID Kieso textbook or have (as I do) mediocre instruction. I was pulling a solid F in IA until I received this book. Within one week--using both the study guide and the problem solving guide--I've lifted my grade to a C and I anticipate a high B if not an A in the class.

Highly recommended for anyone who needs step by step solutions and explanations for chapter problems. Does not have every single solution of course, but I figured to mention that. Also has effective summaries for every chapter, which is a great vocabularoy tool for googling anything that needs more explanation.
